Նորվեգիայի Ֆյորդե քաղաքում անցկացվող ծանրամարտի աշխարհի առաջնությունում պայքարի մեջ են մտել Եվրոպայի կրկնակի չեմպիոն, աշխարհի առաջնության բրոնզե մեդալակիր Գարիկ Կարապետյանը եւ Օլիմպիական խաղերի կրկնակի փոխչեմպիոն, աշխարհի եւ եվրոպայի կրկնակի չեմպիոն Սիմոն Մարտիրոսյանը, որոնք հանդես են գալիս 110 կգ քաշային կարգում:

Պոկում վարժությունից հետո Կարապետյանը 187 կգ արդյունքով 3-րդն է, Սիմոն Մարտիրոսյանը ձախողեց եւ զրո ստացավ:

Եվրոպայի կրկնակի չեմպիոն, աշխարհի բրոնզե մեդալակիր Գարիկ Կարապետյանը մեկնարկեց 186 կգ-ով, բայց չկարողացավ բարձրացնել: Երկրորդ մոտեցմամբ էլ ձախողեց 186 կգ-ը: Երրորդ մոտեցման համար մարզիչները մեկ կիլոգրամ ավելացրին, որը Կարապետյանը հաջողությամբ պոկեց: Այս վարժությունում Կարապետյանը նվաճեց փոքր արծաթե մեդալ:

Օլիմպիական կրկնակի փոխչեմպիոն, աշխարհի եւ Եվրոպայի կրկնակի չեմպիոն Սիմոն Մարտիրոսյանը ձախողեց պոկում վարժությունը: Մարտիրոսյանը երկրորդ եւ երրորդ մոտեցմամբ ձախողեց 185 կգ-ը: Երրորդ մոտեցման համար մարզիչները երկու կիլոգրամ ավելացրին: Մարտիրոսյանը պոկեց, պահեց ծանրաձողը, բայց երկու մրցավար չգրանցեց քաշը: Հայ մարզիչները բողոքարկեցին, բայց մրցավարները շարժում նկատեցին արմունկներում: Սիմոն Մարտիրոսյանի երրորդ մոտեցումն էլ չգրանցվեց, եւ աշխարհի կրկնակի փոխչեմպիոնը զրկվեց երկամարտի պայքարից:
