Նանկինի համալսարանի (Ցզյանսու նահանգ, Չինաստան) գիտնականները մշակել են թափանցիկ արևային կոնցենտրատոր, որը կարող է կիրառվել սովորական պատուհանի ապակու վրա։ Այդ դիֆրակցիոն կոնցենտրատորային արևային համակարգը (CUSC) ընտրողաբար ուղղորդում է արևի լույսը պատուհանի եզրին, որտեղ տեղադրված են ֆոտովոլտային մարտկոցներ։

«Խոլեստերինային հեղուկ բյուրեղային թաղանթների կառուցվածքը նախագծելով մենք ստեղծում ենք մի համակարգ, որը ընտրողաբար ուղղորդում է արևի լույսն ապակե ալիքատարի մեջ կտրուկ անկյան տակ», — բացատրել է ուսումնասիրության գլխավոր հեղինակ, դոկտոր Դևեյ Չժանը։ Խոլեստերինային հեղուկ բյուրեղները հեղուկ բյուրեղի հատուկ տեսակ են, որոնց մոլեկուլներն ոլորված են պարուրաձև նախշով, ինչը թույլ է տալիս նրանց ընտրողաբար փոխազդել որոշակի բևեռացման լույսի հետ։ Ի տարբերություն ավանդական ֆլուորեսցենտային կամ դիֆուզ կոնցենտրատորների, որոնք տառապում են պատկերի աղավաղումից, ցածր արդյունավետությունից և վատ մասշտաբայնությունից, CUSC-ն հնարավորություն է տալիս լայնաշերտ դիֆրակցիա և արդյունավետ ալիքատարի տարածում պահպանելով լիարժեք տեսողական թափանցիկություն։ Սարքը հասնում է մոտ 64.2 % բարձր միջին թափանցելիության և 91.3 % գունային մատուցման ինդեքսի։

Այս օպտիկական հատկությունների շնորհիվ ծածկույթը կարող է մաքուր էներգիա արտադրել՝ պահպանելով ապակու թափանցիկությունը։ Դա կնվազեցնի ֆոտովոլտային մարտկոցների մակերեսը մինչև 75 %-ով՝ նվազեցնելով նյութերի արժեքը և բացելով նոր հնարավորություններ էներգաարդյունավետ շենքերի նախագծման համար։ Համակարգը նաև համատեղելի է բարձր արդյունավետությամբ ֆոտովոլտային մարտկոցների հետ, ինչպիսիք են գալիումի արսենիդը (GaAs), որը բարդ կիսահաղորդիչ է, և որը բարելավում է էներգիայի ընդհանուր փոխակերպումը։

Բազմաշերտ թաղանթները պատրաստվում են ֆոտոհավասարեցման և պոլիմերացման միջոցով և կարող են պատրաստվել գլանափաթեթավորման տեխնոլոգիայի միջոցով։

Թիմը նախատեսում է բարելավել տեխնոլոգիայի լայնաշերտ արդյունավետությունը և բևեռացման կառավարումը։ Նրանք նաև ուսումնասիրում են դրանց շենքերից դուրս կիրառությունները, ներառյալ գյուղատնտեսական ջերմոցները և թափանցիկ արևային էկրանները։ Գիտնականների նպատակն է շենքերի պասիվ ապակին վերածել ակտիվ էներգիա արտադրող մակերեսների։
