Ուկրաինայի նախագահ Վլադիմիր Զելենսկին ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփին կոչ է արել ավելի կոշտ լինել Ռուսաստանի նախագահ Վլադիմիր Պուտինի հետ՝ հայտարարելով, որ ինքը պատրաստ է միանալ Բուդապեշտում կայանալիք նրանց գագաթնաժողովին և լավատեսություն է պահպանում, չնայած այն հանգամանքին, որ Միացյալ Նահանգները մնացել է առանց զենքի, որը նա փնտրում էր։

Ուկրաինայի ղեկավարը NBC News-ի «Հանդիպում մամուլի հետ» հաղորդման հաղորդավարուհի Քրիստեն Ուելքերի հետ ուրբաթ օրը ձայնագրված բացառիկ հարցազրույցում հայտարարել է, որ Թրամփը պետք է ավելի մեծ ճնշում գործադրի Պուտինի վրա, քան նա գործադրել է ՀԱՄԱՍ խմբավորման վրա Գազայում կրակի դադարեցման ապահովման իր վերջին հաջողության ժամանակ։

«Պուտինը նման է, բայց ավելի ուժեղ է, քան ՀԱՄԱՍ-ը», - ասել է Զելենսկին։ - Պատերազմն ավելի լայնածավալ է, իսկ Ռուսաստանի բանակը քանակությամբ երկրորդն է աշխարհում, և հենց այդ պատճառով է անհրաժեշտ ուժեղացնել ճնշումը»։ Զելենսկին հույս ուներ, որ այդ ճնշման մի մասը կլինեն ամերիկյան Tomahawk հեռահար հրթիռների մատակարարումները, որոնք կարող են օգտագործվել Ռուսաստանի տարածքի խորքում հարվածներ հասցնելու համար։ Զելենսկին Պուտինին «ահաբեկիչ» է անվանել NBC News-ին տված հարցազրույցում, սակայն հաստատել է իր պատրաստակամությունը՝ հանդիպելու Ռուսաստանի նախագահի հետ։

«Եթե մենք իսկապես արդար ու կայուն խաղաղություն ենք ուզում, մեզ պետք են այս ողբերգության երկու կողմերը», - ասել է նա։ - Ինչպե՞ս կարող են լինել գործարքներ առանց մեզ»։
