Բանկիրների ամերիկյան հանրահայտ ընտանիքի ժառանգը՝ գործարար-միլիարդատեր Թիմոթի Մելոնն է այն հարուստ դոնորը, որը 130 մլն դոլար է հատկացրել ամերիկացի զինծառայողների աշխատավարձերը վճարելու համար կառավարության շաթդաունի ժամանակ, տեղեկացրել է The New York Times-ը։
Այս շաբաթ ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը հայտնել է, որ միջոցները նվիրաբերվել են «ընկերոջ» կողմից, որը «սիրում է զինվորականներին եւ սիրում է երկիրը», բայց չի ցանկացել, որ իր անունը նշվի։
Թրամփը նվիրատվության մասին հիշատակել է ուրբաթ երեկոյան Ասիա մեկնելու ճանապարհին՝ անանունության խնդրանքն անվանելով «բավական անսովոր այն աշխարհում, որտեղ ես ծնվել եմ» եւ նվիրատուին անվանելով «մեծ ջենթլմեն» եւ «մեծ հայրենասեր»։
83-ամյա Մելոնը արդյունաբերող եւ բարերար Էնդրյու Մելոնի թոռն է։ Forbes-ի տվյալներով՝ նրա ընտանիքի կարողությունը գնահատվում է 14 միլիարդ դոլար։ 2024թ․ Նյու Յորքում խարդախության համար Թրամփի դատապարտվելուց մեկ օր անց Մելոնը 50 միլիոն դոլար է նվիրաբերել Թրամփի օգտին հանդես եկող «Ամերիկան կրկին մեծ դարձնենք» կազմակերպությանը։
Նա ապրում է Վայոմինգում եւ փորձում է շատ չհայտնվել մարդկանց մեջ։ Էնդրյու Մելոնը, որը 1921-1932թթ․ զբաղեցրել է ֆինանսների նախարարի պաշտոնը, Մեծ ճգնաժամին նախորդող տարիներին կուտակել է մեծ կարողություն եւ, ի վերջո, զգալի բարեգործական նվիրատվություններ է կատարել Արվեստի ազգային պատկերասրահին եւ Փիթսբուրգի Քարնեգի Մելոն համալսարանին։
Պենտագոնն ընդունել է նրա թոռան նվիրատվությունը, բայց հնարավոր է՝ չկարողանա օգտագործել այդ միջոցները. դեֆիցիտի դեմ պայքարի օրենքն արգելում է գործակալություններին ծախսել այն փողերը, որոնք չեն հատկացվել Կոնգրեսի կողմից կառավարության շաթդաունի ընթացքում։
