Միացյալ Նահանգները ցանկանում է Ռուսաստանի հետ ստորագրել մարտավարական միջուկային զենքի վերահսկման մասին պայմանագիր։ Այս մասին հայտարարել է Ռոբերտ Քադլեկը, ով ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփի կողմից առաջադրվել է պաշտպանության նախարարի միջուկային զսպման, քիմիական և կենսաբանական պաշտպանության քաղաքականության և ծրագրերի գծով օգնականի պաշտոնում։
Նա պնդել է, որ «Ռուսաստանում տեղակայված է պատերազմի թատերաբեմի միջուկային ուժերի մեծ զինանոց, որը չի ներառվում նոր Ռազմավարական հարձակողական զենքի կրճատման մասին պայմանագրի մեջ և ներառում է տարբեր տեսակի զենքեր» և «ուղղակիորեն սպառնում է» առաջխաղացված ամերիկյան զորքերին, ինչպես նաև Վաշինգտոնի դաշնակիցներին։ «Ես կարծում եմ, որ մենք պետք է ուսումնասիրենք այն ուղիները, որոնք կապահովեն, որ այս զենքերը ներառվեն Ռուսաստանի հետ զենքի վերահսկման ստուգելի պայմանագրով», – ասել է Քադլեկը ամերիկացի օրենսդիրների հարցերին գրավոր պատասխաններում, որոնք պատրաստվել էին Սենատի զինված ուժերի կոմիտեում նրա թեկնածությանը նվիրված լսումների համար։
«Եթե իմ թեկնածությունը հաստատվի, ես կաշխատեմ ԱՄՆ ռազմական դեպարտամենտի և Պետդեպարտամենտի գործընկերների հետ՝ ռուսական ոչ ռազմավարական միջուկային զենքի նկատմամբ վերահսկողությունն ապահովելու տարբերակները որոշելու համար», – ընդգծեց Պենտագոնի ղեկավարի օգնականի պաշտոնի թեկնածուն։
