Աշխարհի առաջնության ընտրական մրցաշարի վերջին տուրի խաղում Հայաստանի հավաքականը Պորտուում հյուրընկալվեց Պորտուգալիան հավաքականին։ Եղիշե Մելիքյանի գլխավորած թիմը պարտվեց 1:9 հաշվով։
7-րդ րոպեին Հենրի Ավագյանի պաշտպանած դարպասը գրավեց իսպանական «Վիլյառեալի» 22-ամյա պաշտպան Ռենատու Վեյգան (տեսանյութ)։
18-րդ րոպեին Մյոնխենգլադբախի «Բորուսիայի» հարձակվող Հրանտ-Լեոն Ռանոսի փոխանցումից հետո աչքի ընկավ Ռուսաստանի չեմպիոն «Կրասնոդարի» կիսապաշտպան Էդուարդ Սպերցյանը (տեսանյութ)։
28-րդ րոպեին «Արարատ-Արմենիայի» 22-ամյա հարձակվող Արթուր Սերոբյանը հետփոխանցում կատարեց դարպասապահ Հենրի Ավագյանին, սակայն առաջինը գնդակին հասավ ֆրանսիական ՊՍԺ-ի 24-ամյա հարձակվող Գոնսալու Ռամուշը եւ առաջ մղեց Պորտուգալիայի հավաքականին (տեսանյութ)։
2 րոպե անց ՊՍԺ-ի 21-ամյա կիսապաշտպան Ժոաու Նեւեշը խփեց դաշտի տերերի երրորդ գոլը (տեսանյութ)։
Ժոաու Նեւեշը 42-րդ րոպեին տուգանայինից խփեց իր երկրորդ գոլը (տեսանյութ)։
Առաջին խաղակեսի ավելացված ժամանակում «Արարատ-Արմենիայի» 33-ամյա կիսապաշտպան Կարեն Մուրադյանը սեփական տուգանային հրապարակում խախտեց կանոնները եւ 11-մետրանոցն արդյունավետ իրացրեց անգլիական «Մանչեսթեր Յունայթեդի» 31-ամյա կիսապաշտպան Բրունո Ֆերնանդեշը (տեսանյութ)։
52-րդ րոպեին դուբլ ձեւակերպեց Բրունու Ֆերնանդեշը (տեսանյութ)։
72-րդ րոպեին «Նոայի» 21-ամյա պաշտպան Սերգեյ Մուրադյանը սեփական տուգանային հրապարակում վերջին հույսի խախտում թույլ տվեց եւ Ֆերնանդեշը հաշիվը դարձրեց 7:1` խփելով իր երրորդ գոլը (տեսանյութ)։ Նա ազգային թիմում առաջին անգամ դարձավ հեթ-տրիկի հեղինակ։
Ֆրանսիական ՊՍԺ-ի 21-ամյա կիսապաշտպան Ժոաո Նեւեշը եւս առաջին հեթ-տրիկը ձեւակերպեց Պորտուգալիայի հավաքականում։
Նեւեշը իր երրորդ գոլը խփեց 81-րդ րոպեին (տեսանյութ)։ Այս խաղում նա իր առաջին գոլերը խփեց ազգային թիմում։
Ավելացված երկրորդ րոպեին Թուրինի «Յուվենտուսի» 22-ամյա հարձակվող Ֆրանսիշկու Կոնսեյսաուն խփեց 9-րդ գոլը։
Պորտուգալիան 13 միավորով գրավեց առաջին տեղը եւ նվաճեց եզրափակիչ փուլի ուղեգիր։
Երկրորդ տեղը զբաղեցրեց Հունգարիան, որը Բուդապեշտում 2:2 հաշվով ոչ ոքի խաղաց Իռլանդիայի հետ եւ 9 միավորով գրավեց երկրորդ տեղը՝ ստանալով ուղեգրի համար փլեյ-օֆֆում պայքարը շարունակելու հնարավորություն։
