Քիմ Քարդաշյանը քննադատության է ենթարկվել հազվագյուտ Hermès Birkin-ի համար, որը, ենթադրաբար, պատրաստված է փղի կաշվից: Պայուսակը հայտնվել է նրա նոր` «All's Fair» սերիալի դրվագներից մեկում, և սոցիալական ցանցերը անմիջապես պայթել են։

PETA-ի տվյալներով՝ Hermès-ը երբեք պաշտոնապես չի վաճառել փղի կաշվից պատրաստված արտադրանք, բայց 1980-ականներին ապրանքանիշը մի քանի պայուսակներ է պատրաստել այն կենդանու կաշվից, որը, ենթադրաբար, կրակվել է սաֆարիում: Այս հազվագյուտ իրերը այժմ վաճառվում են 125,000 դոլարով և ավելի բարձր՝ վերավաճառքի դեպքում։
Երբ շքեղության մասնագետ Դանիել Ուեսոնը (@birkinjunky) հրապարակեց Քարդաշյանի լուսանկարը՝ պայուսակը ձեռքին, արձագանքն անմիջապես հաջորդեց: Զայրացածների թվում էր 30-ամյա իռլանդացի Բոլդուինը: «Սա... անթույլատրելի է»,-գրել է նա մեկնաբանության մեջ։
Այնուհետև նա իր Instagram-ի Stories-ում հրապարակել է Քիմի լուսանկարը՝ պայուսակը ձեռքին. «Սա զզվելի է և ամոթալի։ Ես չեմ հասկանում, թե ինչպես են նման մարդիկ շարունակում աջակցել այս ամենին»։
@birkinjunky-ի գրառման տակ հայտնվել են հարյուրավոր մեկնաբանություններ. «Ես սիրում եմ Birkin-ները, բայց փղի կաշին բոլորովին այլ բան է։ Նրանք հոգևոր կենդանիներ են, ինչպե՞ս է դա հնարավոր», «Այս կինը սահմաններ չունի!»։
Բայց ոմանք նաև պաշտպանել են աստղին. «Այս պայուսակը պատրաստվել է տասնամյակներ առաջ։ Նա այն չի պատվիրել և չի աջակցում որսին»։
