Թուրքիայի նախագահի հանրային կապերի վարչության ղեկավար Բուրհանեթթին Դուրանը հայտնել է, որ Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանի հրավերով Հռոմի Պապ Լևոն 14-րդը նոյեմբերի 27-ից 30-ը լինելու է Թուրքիայում։
Սոցցանցում կատարած գրառմամբ՝ Դուրանը տեղեկացրել է նաև, որ նախատեսվում է Պապի և Էրդողանի հանդիպումը, որտեղ կողմերը քննարկելու են Թուրքիա-Վատիկան հարաբերություններին, Պաղեստինի շուրջ տիրող իրավիճակին, ինչպես նաև տարածաշրջանային և համաշխարհային զարգացումներին վերաբերող հարցեր։
Նշվել է նաև, որ նոյեմբերի 28-ին՝ ուրբաթ օրը, Լևոն 14-րդը այցելելու է Նիկեայի (Իզնիկ) Բազիլիկա և Այա Սոֆյա մզկիթ։ Այցը նվիրված է Նիկեայի 1-ին Տիեզերական ժողովի 1700-րդ տարելիցին։
Թուրքական մամուլում նշվում է, որ Հռոմի Պապի այցը Թուրքիա կարևոր քայլ է երկկողմ դիվանագիտական հարաբերություններն ամրապնդելու տեսանկյունից։ Ընդգծվում է նաև, որ ակնկալվում են քննարկումներ՝ Մերձավոր Արևելքում տիրող հումանտիար իրավիճակի և խաղաղությանը միտված քայլերի վերաբերյալ։
