Երեկ Ռուբեն Վարդանյանը հեռախոսազրույց է ունեցել ավագ որդու՝ Դավիթ Վարդանյանի հետ։ Նա հայտնել է, որ առաջիկայում իրեն կտրվի եզրափակիչ խոսքի հնարավորություն, և իր ելույթում նա մտադիր է ընդգծել հետևյալը.
«Տեղի ունեցողը ես չեմ ընդունում որպես դատական գործընթաց և մտադիր չեմ մասնակցել արդարադատության իմիտացիային։ Բաքվում տեղի ունեցող այս գործընթացը չի համապատասխանում արդար դատաքննության հիմնական չափանիշներին և, հետևաբար, չի կարող համարվել դատաքննություն՝ դրա իրական իմաստով։
Ես ոչնչի համար չեմ զղջում։ Բոլոր իմ գործողությունները կատարել եմ գիտակցաբար և կամավոր՝ լիովին հասկանալով հնարավոր հետևանքները։ Ես պատրաստ եմ պատասխան տալ իմ արարքների համար Աստծո առաջ։ Միակ բանը, որի համար ափսոսում եմ, այն է, որ չկարողացա անել ավելին։
Եվս մեկ անգամ հայտարարում եմ. Արցախը եղել է, կա և կլինի՝ անկախ պատմությունը վերաշարադրելու կամ իրադարձությունների այլ մեկնաբանություն պարտադրելու փորձերից»։
Ռուբեն Վարդանյանը խնդրել է նաև հանրությանը փոխանցել իր որոշ մտքեր և երախտագիտություն է հայտնել բոլոր նրանց, ովքեր իրեն աջակցում ու զորակցում են.

Մի վախեցեք հետևել ձեր սեփական ճանապարհին, փնտրել, սխալվել և մինչև կյանքի վերջ ճանաչել աշխարհը։ Կարևորը՝ սեփական ճանապարհը գիտակցաբար գնալն է:
Ամենակարևորը՝ չվնասելն է: Չխախտել այն ներդաշնակ հավասարակշռությունը, որ գոյություն ունի բնության մեջ ու աշխարհում: Մենք բոլորս մասնիկներն ենք մեկ ընդհանուր տարածության, որը կարող է գոյություն ունենալ միայն հավասարակշռության և ներդաշնակության մեջ:
