Более десятка духовных лидеров призвали папу Льва XIV вмешаться в судьбу арцахских пленных

Лидеры Католической и Армянской Апостольской церквей обратились к папе римскому Льву XIV с просьбой содействовать освобождению арцахских армян, удерживаемых в Азербайджане.
В письме, направленном накануне Рождества, говорится о 23 заключенных, ставших жертвами этнической чистки в Карабахе в сентябре 2023 года. Авторы отмечают, что процессы проходят за закрытыми дверями, без защиты и связи с семьями, а пленные подвергаются давлению за свою веру. Священнослужители также указали на разрушение Азербайджаном армянских церквей и монастырей, назвав это частью кампании по стиранию христианского наследия региона.
Обращение подписали более десяти духовных лидеров, среди них кардинал Тимоти Долан и архиепископ Анушаван Даниелян. Авторы призывают папу лично выступить за освобождение пленных, подчеркнув, что его вмешательство может облегчить страдания семей.
Напомним, азербайджанская прокуратура требует пожизненного заключения для ряда бывших лидеров Арцаха и длительные сроки для других арестованных.
