Սաուդյան Արաբիայում Միացյալ Նահանգների և Ուկրաինայի բանակցությունների ժամանակ ուկրաինական պատվիրակությունն առաջին անգամ բարձրացրել է հակամարտությունը դադարեցնելու համար տարածքային զիջումների հնարավորության հարցը։
Այս քայլը ամերիկյան կողմի կողմից միտումնավոր մարտավարության արդյունք էեղել, հաղորդել է «The New York Times»-ը՝ հղում անելով աղբյուրներին։
Սա վերաբերում է մարտի 11-ին պատվիրակությունների հանդիպմանը։ ԱՄՆ պաշտոնյաներից մեկի խոսքով՝ ԱՄՆ պետքարտուղար Մարկո Ռուբիոն սեղանին դրել է Ուկրաինայի մեծ քարտեզը և հարցրել. «Ես ուզում եմ իմանալ, թե որոնք են ձեր բացարձակ նպատակները. ի՞նչ է ձեզ անհրաժեշտ որպես երկիր գոյատևելու համար»։
Մայք Վալցը, որն այդ ժամանակ ԱՄՆ նախագահի ազգային անվտանգության խորհրդականն է եղել, մարկեր է տվել Ուկրաինայի ազգային անվտանգության և պաշտպանության խորհրդի քարտուղար Ռուստեմ Ումերովին՝ ասելով. «Սկսիր նկարել»։ Ումերովը ուրվագծել է շփման ներկայիս գիծը, որն անցել է Խարկովի, Զապորոժիեի և Խերսոնի մարզերով և Դոնբասով, նաև հայտարարել է Կիեւի մտադրության մասին՝ վերականգնելու Զապորոժիեի ատոմակայանի և Քինբուրնի ցամաքալեզվակի վերահսկողությունը։
NYT-ի աղբյուրի փոխանցմամբ՝ այս դրվագը շրջադարձային կետ է հանդիսացել կարգավորման բանակցություններում։ «Առաջին անգամ Ուկրաինայի նախագահ Վլադիմիր Զելենսկին իր ներկայացուցիչների միջոցով հստակեցրել է, որ պատրաստ է հրաժարվել երկրի տարածքի մոտ 20%-ից՝ հանուն խաղաղության», - ասել է աղբյուրը։ Աղբյուրի նաև նշել է, որ դրանից հետո ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփի խորհրդականները միմյանց հետ քննարկել են, որ ուկրաինական կողմն այժմ «թակարդում» է։
