Հարավային Աֆրիկան կիրակի օրն ազգային աղետ է հայտարարել՝ ուժեղ տեղումների և ջրհեղեղների պատճառով, որոնք երկրի հյուսիսում խլել են առնվազն 30 մարդու կյանք, վնասել հազարավոր տներ և քանդել ճանապարհներ ու կամուրջներ, հայտնում է Associated Press-ը։

Հայտարարությունն արել է Աղետների դեմ պայքարի ազգային կենտրոնի ղեկավարը, իսկ հրապարակել է կառավարությունը։ Այս ռեժիմը թույլ է տալիս ազգային կառավարությանը համակարգել բնական աղետի հետևանքների վերացման գործողությունները։

Ամենաշատ տուժածները Լիմպոպո և Մպումալանգա հյուսիսային նահանգներում են, որտեղ արձանագրվել են մահվան դեպքեր։ Սակայն Կոոպերատիվ կառավարման և ավանդույթների նախարարությունը հայտնել է, որ առնվազն երեք այլ նահանգ ևս տուժել է ծանր եղանակային պայմաններից։

Հարավային Աֆրիկայի որոշ շրջաններում, ինչպես նաև հարևան Մոզամբիկում և Զիմբաբվեում, մի քանի շաբաթ շարունակ ուժեղ տեղումներ են եղել։ Դրանք հանգեցրել են ջրհեղեղների՝ Մոզամբիկի կենտրոնական և հարավային մասերում և Հարավային Աֆրիկայի հյուսիսում։

Անցած տարվա վերջից սկսված տեղումների հետևանքով այս երեք երկրներում զոհվել է ավելի քան 100 մարդ։ Հարավային Աֆրիկայի հյուսիսում ջրհեղեղները հանգեցրել են Կրյուգերի ազգային արգելոցի փակմանը և հարյուրավոր զբոսաշրջիկների ու աշխատակիցների տարհանմանը՝ ջրածածկ վայրերից դեպի արգելոցի այլ հատվածներ։

Լիմպոպո նահանգի վարչապետը հայտարարել է, որ վատ եղանակը իր նահանգին մոտ 240 միլիոն դոլարի վնաս է հասցրել, բազմաթիվ տներ և կառույցներ ջուրն ամբողջությամբ քշել տարել է։
