ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը և Սիրիայի նախագահ Ահմեդ ալ-Շարաան հեռախոսազրույց են ունեցել։
Քննարկումը կենտրոնացած է եղել Սիրիայի անցումային շրջանի զարգացումների և անվտանգության ու կայունության ամրապնդման ջանքերի, ինչպես նաև տարածաշրջանային և միջազգային կայունությանը նպաստող երկկողմ համագործակցության հեռանկարների վրա։
Ալ-Շարաան վերահաստատել է Սիրիայի լիակատար հավատարմությունը իր տարածքի միասնությանը և ազգային ինքնիշխանությանը, ինչպես նաև պետության վճռականությունը՝ պահպանելու իր ինստիտուտները և ամրապնդելու քաղաքացիական խաղաղությունը։ Նա ընդգծել է միջազգային ջանքերի միավորման կարևորությունը՝ կանխելու ահաբեկչական կազմակերպությունների, առաջին հերթին՝ ԴԱԻՇ-ի վերադարձը։
Սիրիայի նախագահը ընդգծել է, որ «նոր Սիրիան» հավատարիմ է բաց քաղաքականության մոտեցմանը և օգնության ձեռք է մեկնում բոլոր միջազգային կողմերին՝ հիմնվելով ընդհանուր շահերի և փոխադարձ հարգանքի վրա։ Նա համաձայնել է ԱՄՆ նախագահի հետ տարածաշրջանային հակամարտությունների լուծման գործում երկխոսության առաջնահերթությունը տալու անհրաժեշտության հարցում՝ ընդգծելով, որ «նախաձեռնողական դիվանագիտությունը» տարածաշրջանում քրոնիկ ճգնաժամերը հաղթահարելու միակ միջոցն է։
Թրամփը վերահաստատել է իր երկրի աջակցությունը Սիրիայի ժողովրդի միասնական և ուժեղ պետություն կառուցելու ձգտումներին և ողջունել հրադադարի համաձայնագիրը՝ այն համարելով հակամարտության դադարեցման ուղղությամբ կարևոր քայլ։ Նա նաև իր աջակցությունն է հայտնել ռազմական ուժերի, այդ թվում՝ Սիրիայի դեմոկրատական ուժերի (SDF)՝ պաշտոնական պետական ինստիտուտներին ինտեգրման վերաբերյալ համաձայնագրերին։
