Science ամսագրում հրապարակված նոր հետազոտությունը ցույց է տալիս, որ գենետիկան կարող է շատ ավելի մեծ դեր խաղալ մարդու կյանքի տևողության հարցում, քան նախկինում կարծում էին։

Երկվորյակների և այլ ազգականների տվյալների վերլուծության հիման վրա գիտնականները գնահատել են, որ բնակչության շրջանում կյանքի տևողության տարբերությունների մոտ 50–55%-ը պայմանավորված է ժառանգական գենետիկական գործոններով: Սա զգալիորեն գերազանցում է նախկինում արված գնահատականները, որոնք սովորաբար կազմում էին 6–25%:

Նոր մոտեցման հիմնական առանձնահատկությունն այն է, որ հետազոտողները տարանջատել են արտաքին գործոնների ազդեցությունը, ինչպիսիք են դժբախտ պատահարները, վարակիչ հիվանդությունները կամ մահվան այլ պատճառները, որոնք կապված չեն ծերացման կենսաբանական գործընթացների հետ։ Մահվան նման «արտաքին» պատճառները բացառելու և տարիքային հիվանդությունների ու ծերացման կենսաբանական մեխանիզմների հետ կապված ներքին պատճառների վրա կենտրոնանալու դեպքում՝ կյանքի ընդհանուր տևողության մեջ գենետիկական ներդրումը զգալիորեն ավելի բարձր է ստացվել։

Գիտնականներն օգտագործել են Շվեդիայի, Դանիայի և ԱՄՆ-ի երկվորյակների մեծ խմբերի տվյալները՝ ինչպես միաձվանի (որոնց գենետիկական նյութը նույնն է), այնպես էլ երկձվանի (որոնք գենետիկորեն նման են մոտ կեսով)։ Նրանց կյանքի տևողության օրինաչափությունների համեմատությունը թույլ է տվել ավելի ճշգրիտ գնահատել, թե տարբերությունների որ մասն է բացատրվում ժառանգականությամբ։

Արդյունքները ցույց են տալիս, որ գենետիկան հատկապես ուժեղ է ազդում մարդու ապրած տարիքի վրա, երբ բացառվում են մահվան արտաքին պատճառները։ Ընդ որում, մնացած մոտ 45–50%-ը դեռևս կապված է միջավայրի գործոնների և կենսակերպի հետ, ինչպիսիք են սնունդը, ֆիզիկական ակտիվությունը, վնասակար սովորությունները, սոցիալական պայմանները և բժշկության հասանելիությունը։

Թեև նման գնահատականները չեն նշանակում, թե մարդը «անպայման երկար կապրի միայն գեների շնորհիվ», դրանք ընդգծում են, որ ծերացման կենսաբանական մեխանիզմներն ու տարիքի հետ կապված հիվանդություններն ունեն զգալի գենետիկական բաղադրիչ։ Այն արժե ուսումնասիրել՝ հասկանալու համար, թե ինչպես պահպանել առողջությունը և երկարացնել ակտիվ կյանքի շրջանը։
