Խոր, մռայլ կապույտ՝ մի կողմից եւ վառ փիրուզագույն՝ մյուս կողմից. սա այն վայրն է, որտեղ Հյուսիսային Ատլանտիկան հանդիպում է Էլեուտերյան ծոցին: Հետազոտողների կարծիքով՝ այս երկու ջրային տարածքների ամենատպավորիչ միացումը կարելի է տեսնել Բահամյան կղզիների Էլեուտերա կղզու ամենանեղ կետում՝ Ապակե կամրջի վրա: Այստեղ երկու շատ տարբեր ջրային տարածքներ բաժանված են ճանապարհով եւ մոտ 10 մետր լայնությամբ ժայռի շերտով, գրել է IFLScience-ը:

Երկու ջրային տարածքների միջեւ հակադրությունն ապշեցուցիչ է, բայց բաժանումը իրականում այնքան էլ ակնհայտ չէ, քան կարող է թվալ առաջին հայացքից: Եթե քարտեզի վրա մեծացնենք պատկերը, կնկատնեք, որ Էլեուտերա կղզին նման է փոքրիկ փակագծի՝ մեջքով շրջված Ատլանտյան օվկիանոսին:

Գտնվելով դեպի ներս ուղղված աղեղի ներսում՝ Էեյուտերա ծոցն ավելի մակերեսային է եւ պաշտպանված Ատլանտյան օվկիանոսի ուժեղ հոսանքներից ու հզոր ռիթմերից, հաղորդել է «Фокус»-ը: Արդյունքում՝ ծոցում ավազի եւ նստվածքի խառնման հավանականությունը նվազում է, ինչը թույլ է տալիս, որ ջուրը մնա մաքուր եւ թափանցիկ: Մյուս կողմից՝ Ատլանտյան օվկիանոսի աշխույժ եւ խոր ջրերն արտացոլվում են ջրի ավելի հարուստ եւ մուգ գույնի մեջ։

Նշենք, որ օվկիանոսներն ու ծովերը կարող են ունենալ հստակ սահմաններ աշխարհագրական քարտեզների վրա, բայց իրականում ծովի ջուրը չի պահպանում ճշգրիտ սահմաններ: Օրինակ, մենք կարող ենք մեկ տարածաշրջան անվանել Ատլանտյան ծով, իսկ մյուսը՝ Կարիբյան ծով, բայց ջուրն իրականում հոսում եւ խառնվում է։

Հետազոտողների կարծիքով՝ սա չի նշանակում, թե ծովերն ու օվկիանոսները չունեն առանձնահատուկ բնութագրեր: Օրինակ, դրանք տարբերվում են աղիությամբ, կենսաբազմազանությամբ, ջերմաստիճանով, ընդհանուր խառնվածքով եւ ծովի մակարդակով: Սակայն նրանց ջրերի միջեւ եղած տարբերությունները հազվադեպ են ակնհայտ վիզուալ առումով։

Սակայն Բահամյան կղզիների Ապակե կամրջի մոտ իսկապես կարելի է դիտարկել երկու ջրային մարմինների միջեւ հազվագյուտ եւ իրական վիզուալ հակադրություն։ Գիտնականների կարծիքով՝ այս հակադրությունը ձեւավորվում է խորության, շրջակա միջավայրի ազդեցությունների եւ աշխարհագրական առանձնահատկությունների պատճառով։
