Մերձավոր Արևելքում ԱՄՆ ուժերի արագ կուտակումն առաջընթաց է ապրել այնքանով, որ նախագահ Թրամփը հնարավորություն ունի ռազմական գործողություններ ձեռնարկել Իրանի դեմ արդեն այս հանգստյան օրերին. այս մասին հայտնել են վարչակազմի և Պենտագոնի պաշտոնյաները՝ Սպիտակ տանը թողնելով դիվանագիտության կամ պատերազմի միջև բարձր խաղադրույքներով ընտրության առջև, հայտնում է The New York Times-ը:
Թրամփը որևէ ցուցում չի տվել, թե գործելու ինչպիսի որոշում է կայացրել։ Սակայն Իրանի միջուկային ծրագրին, բալիստիկ հրթիռներին և դրանց արձակման կայաններին հարվածելու ունակ ռազմական ուժի հավաքագրման գործընթացը շարունակվել է այս շաբաթ՝ չնայած փետրվարի 17-ին երկու երկրների միջև տեղի ունեցած անուղղակի բանակցություններին, որոնց ընթացքում Իրանը երկու շաբաթ ժամանակ էր խնդրել դիվանագիտական լուծման վերաբերյալ մշակված առաջարկներով հանդես գալու համար:
ԱՄՆ նախագահը բազմիցս պահանջել է, որ Իրանը հրաժարվի իր միջուկային ծրագրից, այդ թվում՝ համաձայնի այլևս չհարստացնել ուրան։ Իսրայելի վարչապետ Բենիամին Նեթանյահուն, որի երկիրը պոտենցիալ կերպով կարող է մասնակցել հարձակմանը, պնդում է գործողություններ ձեռնարկել՝ թուլացնելու Իրանի կարողությունը՝ Իսրայելի ուղղությամբ հրթիռներ արձակելու հարցում։
Թրամփը բազմիցս սպառնացել է, որ Իրանը պետք է կատարի իր պայմանները, այլապես կբախվի ծանր հետևանքների։ Սակայն ևս մեկ հարձակում՝ 12-օրյա պատերազմից ութ ամիս անց, որի ժամանակ Իսրայելը և Միացյալ Նահանգները հարվածներ հասցրին Իրանի ողջ տարածքում գտնվող ռազմական և միջուկային օբյեկտներին, պոտենցիալ կերպով կարող է զգալի ռիսկեր պարունակել, ներառյալ այն, որ Իրանը կպատասխանի հրթիռային հարվածների կատաղի տարափով Իսրայելի և տարածաշրջանում ԱՄՆ ուժերի ուղղությամբ։
