Մերձավոր Արևելքում Իրան–Իսրայել հարաբերությունների կտրուկ սրացումը և լայնածավալ պատերազմի վտանգը անխուսափելիորեն անդրադառնում է նաև Հարավային Կովկասի վրա։ Թեպետ Հայաստանը անմիջականորեն հակամարտության կողմ չէ, տարածաշրջանային բարդ դիրքը, արտաքին կապերը և անվտանգության համակարգը երկիրը դարձնում են զգայուն նման զարգացումների նկատմամբ։

Առաջին հերթին պետք է հաշվի առնել Հայաստանի և Իրանի հարաբերությունները։ Իրանը Հայաստանի համար ոչ միայն հարևան պետություն է, այլ նաև կենսական տնտեսական ու լոգիստիկ գործընկեր։ Եթե Իրանը ներքաշվի լայնածավալ պատերազմի մեջ, հնարավոր են սահմանների խստացում, բեռնափոխադրումների սահմանափակումներ և էներգետիկ համագործակցության խափանումներ։ Դա կարող է անմիջական ազդեցություն ունենալ Հայաստանի ներմուծումների, գազի մատակարարումների և ընդհանուր տնտեսական կայունության վրա։

Մյուս կարևոր գործոնը անվտանգության միջավայրն է։ Իրանի թուլացումը կամ միջազգային ճնշման աճը կարող է փոխել ուժերի հարաբերակցությունը տարածաշրջանում՝ ակտիվացնելով այլ խաղացողների։ Այս համատեքստում առանձնահատուկ դեր ունի Ադրբեջանը, որը սերտ ռազմաքաղաքական կապեր ունի Իսրայելի հետ։ Իսրայելի և Իրանի միջև բաց պատերազմը կարող է ոգևորել Բաքվին՝ ավելի ագրեսիվ քայլերի գնալու թե՛ դիվանագիտական, թե՛ ռազմական դաշտում, ինչը Հայաստանի համար հավելյալ ռիսկեր է ստեղծում։

Չի կարելի անտեսել նաև մեծ տերությունների դերակատարությունը։ ԱՄՆ-ի, Ռուսաստանի և Թուրքիայի ներգրավվածությունը Մերձավոր Արևելքում կարող է շղթայական ազդեցություն ունենալ նաև Հարավային Կովկասում։ Եթե Ռուսաստանը ստիպված լինի իր ռեսուրսների մեծ մասը կենտրոնացնել Մերձավոր Արևելքի կամ այլ ճգնաժամերի վրա, դա կարող է թուլացնել նրա ազդեցությունը տարածաշրջանում, ինչն էլ կստիպի Հայաստանին վերանայել սեփական անվտանգության հաշվարկները։ Միաժամանակ, Թուրքիայի ակտիվացումը կարող է փոխել ուժային հավասարակշռությունը Հայաստանի շուրջ։

Տնտեսական առումով պատերազմը կարող է բերել նաև գլոբալ հետևանքների՝ նավթի և գազի գների աճ, փոխադրումների թանկացում, ֆինանսական շուկաների անկայունություն։ Այս ամենը կհարվածի նաև Հայաստանի տնտեսությանը՝ բարձրացնելով գների ճնշումը և դժվարացնելով արտաքին առևտուրը։ Փոքր տնտեսության համար նման ցնցումները կարող են զգալի լինել, հատկապես սոցիալական խոցելի խմբերի վրա։

Միևնույն ժամանակ, որոշ փորձագետներ նշում են, որ Հայաստանը կարող է նաև դիվանագիտական ակտիվության հնարավորություն ստանալ՝ հանդես գալով որպես հավասարակշռված և երկխոսության կողմնակից պետություն։ Սակայն դա հնարավոր է միայն զգույշ և հաշվարկված արտաքին քաղաքականության դեպքում, որպեսզի երկիրը չդառնա մեծ խաղացողների հակամարտության «կողմնակի զոհը»։
