Եվրոպական Միության դիվանագիտության ղեկավար Կայա Կալլասը հայտարարել է, որ ԵՄ-ն չի հասկանում ԱՄՆ նպատակները Իրանում և կարծում է, որ ուժի կիրառման համար իրավական հիմքեր չկան։

Եվրոպական Միության դիվանագիտության ղեկավար Կայա Կալլասը հայտարարել է, որ ԵՄ-ն չի հասկանում ԱՄՆ նպատակները Իրանում և կարծում է, որ ուժի կիրառման համար իրավական հիմքեր չկան։
«Քննարկումը վերաբերում էր նրան, թե արդյոք կա այս գործողությունը դեպի Հորմուզի նեղուց ընդլայնելու ցանկություն։ Նման ցանկություն չի եղել, քանի որ նախարարներն ասել են, որ իրենց հետ խորհրդակցել չեն եղել։ Ոմանք նույնիսկ ասել են, որ փորձում են համոզել կողմերին չսկսել այս պատերազմը, և մենք չգիտենք, թե որոնք են այս պատերազմի նպատակները։ Միջազգային իրավունքում ուժի կիրառման համար իրավական հիմքեր նույնպես չկան», - ասել է նա ԵՄ առաջնորդների գագաթնաժողովից առաջ կայացած մամուլի ասուլիսում։
Ավելի վաղ ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը կոչ էր արել Չինաստանին, Ֆրանսիային, Ճապոնիային, Հարավային Կորեային, Մեծ Բրիտանիային և այլ երկրներին նավեր ուղարկել Հորմուզի նեղուց՝ նավագնացությունը վերականգնելու համար։
Գերմանիան և Ֆրանսիան արդեն մերժել են Թրամփի խնդրանքը։ Միևնույն ժամանակ, Եվրոպական Միության դիվանագիտության ղեկավար Կայա Կալասը հայտարարել է, որ ԵՄ երկրները պատրաստ չեն նավատորմ ուղարկել Հորմուզի նեղուց։
