Նոր հետազոտությունը ցույց է տվել, որ տեստոստերոնը կարող է նպաստել տարեց կանանց ճարպային հյուսվածքի առավել առողջ բաշխմանը, հատկապես վնասվածքներից հետո վերականգնման շրջանում:
Խոսքը STEP-HI կլինիկական հետազոտության մասին է, որի արդյունքները հրապարակվել են Obesity Pillars գիտական ամսագրում: Այն ուսումնասիրել է ֆիզիկական վարժությունների և տեստոստերոնային թերապիայի համակցված ազդեցությունը կոնքազդրային հոդի կոտրվածք ստացած տարեց կանանց մարմնի կազմության վրա:
Հետազոտությանը մասնակցել է 66 կին (միջին տարիքը՝ 76–79 տարեկան), որոնք բաժանվել են երկու խմբի. առաջինը կատարել է վարժությունների ծրագիր և ստացել տեստոստերոնային գել երկրորդը՝ վարժություններ և պլացեբո
Դիտարկումը տևել է 6 ամիս, իսկ ճարպային հյուսվածքի փոփոխությունները գնահատվել են երկէներգետիկ ռենտգենյան աբսորբցիոմետրիայի (DXA) միջոցով:
Արդյունքները ցույց են տվել, որ ճարպի ընդհանուր ծավալն էապես չի փոխվել, սակայն տեստոստերոն ստացող խմբում նվազել է վիսցերալ ճարպի մասնաբաժինը, որն առավել վտանգավոր է առողջության համար։
Ներքին օրգանների հատվածում կուտակվող վիսցերալ ճարպը կապված է հետևյալ խնդիրների բարձր ռիսկի հետ. դիաբետ, սիրտ-անոթային հիվանդություններ, քրոնիկ բորբոքում։
Հեղինակներն ընդգծում են, որ տարիքի հետ տղամարդկանց և կանանց մոտ տեղի է ունենում ճարպի վերաբաշխում՝ ենթամաշկայինից դեպի վիսցերալ, և հենց հորմոններն են առանցքային դեր խաղում այդ գործընթացում:
Ընդ որում, հետազոտությունը ցույց է տվել, որ տեստոստերոնը չի նվազեցնում ընդհանուր ճարպը,
բայց նպաստում է դրա առավել «առողջ» բաշխմանը՝ նվազեցնելով վիսցերալ կուտակումների մասնաբաժինը։
Հեղինակները նշում են, որ նման փոփոխությունները կարող են կլինիկական նշանակություն ունենալ, սակայն անհրաժեշտ են լրացուցիչ հետազոտություններ՝ գնահատելու թերապիայի երկարաժամկետ ազդեցությունը պացիենտների առողջության և կյանքի վրա:
