ՄԱԿ-ի նախկին գլխավոր քարտուղար Բուտրոս Բուտրոս-Գալին մահացել է: Ինչպես հաղորդում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, այս մասին տեղեկացրել է BBC-ն:
Բուտրոս Բուտրոս-Գալին ծնվել է 1922թ. Եգիպտոսում: Նա 1992-1996թթ զբաղեցրել է ՄԱԿ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղարի պաշտոնը:
Սովորել է Կահիրեի և Սորբոնի համալսարաններում, ուսումնասիրելով
1992 թ. ընտրությունների առաջին փուլով ընտրվել է ՄԱԿ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղար, այդ պաշտոնում փոխարինելով Պերես դե Կուելյարին։
Պաշտոնավարման առաջին ամիսներին առաջարկել է «խաղաղության կառուցում» հասկացությունը «խաղաղության աջակցում»-ի փոխարեն, ըստ նրա խաղաղության կարելի է հասնել միայն կոնֆլիկտում ներգրավված բոլոր կողմերի համաձայնությամբ։
1993 թ. կեսերին Բուտրոս Բուտրոս Ղալին այցելել է 19 երկիր և անցկացրել 13 խաղաղարարական գործողություններ։ 1994 թվականին փորձել է կասեցնել Ռուանդայում ընթացող արյունահեղությունը, ինչը նրան սակայն չի հաջողվել։ 1996 թ. ցանկացել է երկրորդ ժամկետով մնալ ՄԱԿ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղարի պաշտոնում, բայց ԱՄՆ-ն նրա թեկնածությանը վետո է դրել և քարտուղար է ընտրվել գանացի Քոֆի Անանը։ Թոշակի անցնելուց հետո խիստ քննադատության է ենթարկել ՄԱԿ-ի գործունեությունը:
