Ալյասկայի 24-ամյա բնակչուհի Մերի Կրանիկը հղիության 8-րդ ամսում վերադառնալիս է եղել տուն, երբ ուժգին փոթորիկի պատճառով ստիպված է եղել կանգ առնել մոտակա անտառի մոտ: Ավտոմեքենան արգելափակվել է խոր ձյան մեջ: Նա որոշել է ճանապարհի մնացած մասը ոտքով անցնել, սակայն, 800 մետր անցնելուց հետո զգացել, որ արդեն ծննդաբերում է:

Այնուհետեւ գայլերը խնամել ու պաշտպանել են երիտասարդ կնոջն ու երեխային, լիզել ու ջերմացրել նրան:
Որոշ ժամանակ անց Մերիի ծանոթները հայտնաբերել են մեքենան ու սկսել որոնումներն, իսկ այնուհետեւ տեսնելով գայլերին՝ որոշել, որ Մերին հոշոտվել է: Անչափ մեծ է եղել նրանց զարմանքը, երբ կրակոցներից հետո, երբ գայլերը հեռացել են որոշ հեռավորության վրա, նրանք Մերիին հայտնաբերել են ամբողջովին առողջ ու երեխան գրկին:
Գայլերը հեռվից դիտել են ու հեռացել, երբ Մերիին տեղափոխել են ավտոմեքենա:
Այժմ երիտասարդ մայրիկի կարծիքով, գայլերը երբեք իրեն չեն մոռանա ու մի գեղեցիկ օր նա կհանդիպի նրանց:
Տեղի անտառապահները մինչ այժմ չեն կարողանում բացատրել գայլերի նման վարքագիծն ու Մերիին խորհուրդ են տալիս հրաժարվել նրանց հանդիպելու մտքից:
Սակայն Մերին հակված չէ նրանց լսել ու սպասում է նոր հանդիպման:
Չէ որ գայլերը նրան համարել են իրենց ոհմակի անդամ ու հոգ տարել ինչպես արյունակցի:
