Ալբանիայի մայրաքաղաք Տիրանայում շարունակվող ազատ ոճի ըմբշամարտի Եվրոպայի առաջնությունում Հայաստանի երկու ներկայացուցիչներ կպայքարեն երրորդ տեղի համար։ Վազգեն Թևանյանն ու Մանվել Խնձրցյանը կիսաեզրափակիչում պարտություններ են կրել։

65 կգ քաշային կարգում Վազգեն Թևանյանի՝ եզրափակիչի համար գոտեմարտը ռուս Բաշիր Մագոմեդովի հետ դրամատիկ և վիճահարույց ստացվեց։ Թևանյանն առջևում էր 3 անպատասխան միավորով, սակայն մրցակցի երկմիավորանոց հնարքն ու հայկական անկյան չբավարարված բողոքարկումը վերականգնեցին հավասարությունը (3։3): Վերջին միավորի առավելությամբ հաղթանակը տրվեց ռուս ըմբիշին։ Ուշագրավ է, որ ավարտից վայրկյաններ առաջ մրցակցին աշխատանքային գոտուց հանելու Թևանյանի գործողությունը մրցավարների կողմից անարձագանք մնաց՝ զրկելով նրան բողոքարկելու հնարավորությունից: Մինչ այս հայ ըմբիշը հաղթահարել էր Ֆրանսիայի և Բուլղարիայի ներկայացուցիչների արգելքը (5:2, 2:1):

57 կգ քաշայինների պայքարում Մանվել Խնձրցյանը 0։5 հաշվով զիջեց Ռուսաստանը ներկայացնող Մուսա Մեխտիխանովին։ Ավելի վաղ նա տպավորիչ հաղթանակներ էր տոնել ռումինացի և գերմանացի մարզիկների նկատմամբ (12:1, 12:6):

Այսօր մրցագորգ դուրս եկած մեր մյուս երկու ըմբիշները՝ Դավիթ Մարգարյանը (70 կգ) և Հրայր Ալիխանյանը (79 կգ), անհաջողության են մատնվել հենց մեկնարկում: Նրանք սփոփիչ գոտեմարտերի իրավունք կստանան միայն այն դեպքում, եթե նրանց հաղթած մրցակիցները հասնեն մրցաշարի եզրափակիչ։
