Ռոբերը Մելքոնյանը ֆեյսբուքյան իր էջում գրում է.
Ֆրանսիայում հեղափոխական խառնաշփոթ իրավիճակ էր, ծանր ժամանակներ էին, Փարիզը սով էր ապրում: Թղթադրամի անընդհատ տեղի ունեցող արժեզրկումը հանգեցրել էր մթերային ապրանքների գների արագ բարձրացմանը: Գյուղացիները չէին ուզում հացահատիկը թղթադրամով վաճառել, որն այդ ժամանակ բացարձակ գին չուներ: Մթերքների առաքումը Փարիզ բնականաբար խիստ կրճատվել էր: Սովի ու դժգոհության պայմաններում հասարակական կարգ պահպանելը հեշտ գործ չէր:
Հետագայում, Նապոլեոնը Սուրբ Հեղինե կղզում իր գրառումներում վերհիշում է այդ օրերը, թե ինչպես մի անգամ փողոցներից մեկում հուզված կանանց մի մեծ ամբոխ կանգնեցրել էր իրեն և իր շտաբի սպաներին: <<Հա՜ց, հա՜ց>> գոռալով, նրանք շրջապատել էին սպաներին: Կանանցից մեկը, <<ահավոր բարձրահասակ ու գեր>>, կատաղած, զայրացած խոսքերով դիմում է ներկաներին. <<Ուսադիրներ հագած ձեր այս ողջ ոհմակը ծաղրում է մեզ: Լափում եք ու ճարպակալում, և ձեր պետքն էլ չի, որ աղքատ մարդիկ սովից մեռնում են>>:
