Կարմիր աչքերը շատերի համար սովորական ու երբեմն անտեսվող երևույթ են, սակայն իրականում դրանք կարող են լինել տարբեր հիվանդությունների կամ խանգարումների կարևոր ազդանշան։ Աչքի սպիտակուցի կարմրությունը սովորաբար պայմանավորված է արյունատար անոթների լայնացմամբ կամ բորբոքմամբ, ինչը կարող է ունենալ ինչպես անվնաս, այնպես էլ լուրջ պատճառներ։

Առավել տարածված պատճառներից մեկը կոնյուկտիվիտն է (աչքի լորձաթաղանթի բորբոքում)։ Այն կարող է լինել վիրուսային, բակտերիալ կամ ալերգիկ բնույթի։ Վիրուսային կոնյուկտիվիտը հաճախ ուղեկցվում է արցունքահոսությամբ և քորով, իսկ բակտերիալը՝ թարախային արտադրությամբ։ Ալերգիկ ձևը հիմնականում նկատվում է սեզոնային ալերգիաների ժամանակ։

Կարմիր աչքերի պատճառ կարող է լինել նաև բլեֆարիտը՝ կոպերի եզրերի բորբոքումը, որն առաջացնում է քոր, այրոց և երբեմն թեփոտում։ Այս վիճակը հաճախ կապված է հիգիենայի խնդիրների կամ մաշկային հիվանդությունների հետ։

Աչքի չորության համախտանիշը ևս հաճախ է հանգեցնում կարմրության։ Երկար ժամանակ համակարգչի առջև աշխատելը, օդի չորությունը կամ կոնտակտային լինզաների օգտագործումը կարող են նվազեցնել արցունքի արտադրությունը՝ առաջացնելով անհարմարություն և կարմրություն։

Ավելի լուրջ պատճառներից կարելի է նշել գլաուկոման, հատկապես դրա սուր ձևը, որը կարող է ուղեկցվել ուժեղ ցավով, տեսողության վատացմամբ և աչքի կարմրությամբ։ Սա արդեն պահանջում է անհապաղ բժշկական միջամտություն։

Ուվեիտը՝ աչքի միջին շերտի բորբոքումը, նույնպես կարող է առաջացնել կարմիր աչքեր, ցավ և լուսազգայունություն։ Այս հիվանդությունը հաճախ կապված է իմունային համակարգի խանգարումների հետ և պահանջում է մասնագետի վերահսկողություն։

Չպետք է բացառել նաև վնասվածքները կամ օտար մարմնի առկայությունը աչքում, որոնք կարող են առաջացնել տեղային բորբոքում և կարմրություն։

Կարմիր աչքերը երբեմն կարող են լինել պարզապես հոգնածության կամ քնի պակասի հետևանք, սակայն եթե դրանք պահպանվում են երկար ժամանակ, ուղեկցվում են ցավով, տեսողության փոփոխությամբ կամ արտազատումներով, անհրաժեշտ է դիմել ակնաբույժի։

Կարմիր աչքերը ոչ միայն գեղագիտական խնդիր են, այլև հաճախ օրգանիզմի ազդանշան։ Ժամանակին ճիշտ ախտորոշումն ու բուժումը կօգնեն կանխել հնարավոր բարդությունները և պահպանել տեսողության առողջությունը։
