ԱՄՆ բանակը չեղարկել է 1-ին հեծելազորային դիվիզիայի 2-րդ զրահատանկային բրիգադային մարտական խմբի՝ ավելի քան 4 000 զինծառայողի և համապատասխան սարքավորումների տեղակայումը Լեհաստանում: Բանակի ներկայացուցիչը հաստատել է այդ որոշումը, սակայն մանրամասներ չի հայտնել և բոլոր հարցերն ուղղորդել է ԱՄՆ պաշտպանության նախարարություն, որը չի պատասխանել մեկնաբանության հարցմանը, հաղորդում է Defense News-ը:
Կոնգրեսում երեքշաբթի բանակի բյուջետային քաղաքականությանը նվիրված լսումների ժամանակ ո՛չ բանակի նախարար Դեն Դրիսկոլը, ո՛չ բանակի շտաբի պետի տեղակալ գեներալ Քրիստոֆեր ԼաՆևը չեն հիշատակել տեղակայման չեղարկման մասին:
Սենատոր Ջեք Ռիդը (դեմոկրատ Ռոդ Այլենդից)՝ Սենատի զինված ուժերի հանձնաժողովի առաջատար դեմոկրատը, լսումների իր բացման խոսքում հայտարարել է, որ բանակն առնվազն 2 միլիարդ դոլարի բյուջետային դեֆիցիտ ունի ընդլայնված գործողությունների պատճառով, ներառյալ.

Ըստ ABC News-ի՝ բանակի իրական բյուջետային դեֆիցիտը զգալիորեն բարձր է Ռիդի գնահատականից. բանակային պաշտոնյաների խոսքով՝ այն կազմում է 4-6 միլիարդ դոլար:
Պենտագոնը ապրիլին հայտարարել էր, որ ծրագրում է Գերմանիայից դուրս բերել մոտ 5 000 զինծառայող: Պաշտպանության նախարարության ներկայացուցիչ Շոն Պարնելը հայտարարել է, որ պաշտպանության նախարար Փիթ Հեգսեթն այս որոշումն ընդունել է «ռազմական գործողությունների թատերաբեմի պահանջների և տեղում տիրող իրավիճակի» վերլուծությունից հետո:
Այս քայլը պետք է Եվրոպայում ամերիկյան զորքերի թիվը վերադարձնի մինչև 2022 թվականը՝ նախքան Ուկրաինայի պատերազմի սկիզբը եղած մակարդակին:
