ԱՄՆ-ի և Մեքսիկայի սահմանին կտրուկ արագացել է սահմանային պատի նոր հատվածների շինարարությունը, ինչը բողոքի ալիք է բարձրացրել բնիկ ժողովուրդների շրջանում, հայտնում է Associated Press-ը։

Ըստ նրանց, աշխատանքները ոչնչացնում են սրբավայրերն ու հնագիտական օբյեկտները, որոնք կրոնական և մշակութային նշանակություն ունեն։

Ամենասուր հակամարտությունը ծավալվել է Կուչամաա լեռան շուրջ, որը գտնվում է սահմանին՝ Տեկատե քաղաքի շրջանում։ Կումեյաայ ժողովրդի համար այս լեռը սուրբ վայր է համարվում և օգտագործվում է արարողությունների ու հոգևոր ծիսակատարությունների համար։ Սակայն ամերիկացի կապալառուներն այնտեղ պայթեցման և հողային աշխատանքներ են իրականացնում պատի շինարարության նպատակով։

Կումեյաայ ժողովրդի ներկայացուցիչները հայտարարում են, որ պայթուցիկ նյութերի կիրառման համաձայնություն չեն տվել։ Ըստ նրանց՝ լեռան ավերումն ընկալվում է որպես հոգևոր ժառանգության մի մասի ոչնչացում։

Արիզոնայում ապրիլին շինարարները վնասել են մոտ 1000 տարվա հնություն ունեցող Las Playas Intaglio գեոգլիֆը։ Անապատի մակերևույթին արված ձկան տեսքով հսկայական պատկերը համեմատում են Պերուի Նասկայի գծերի հետ։ Տոհոնո-օօդհամ ժողովուրդը նախապես կապալառուներին մատնացույց էր արել այդ վայրը՝ որպես շրջանցման ենթակա օբյեկտ։

Նյու Մեքսիկոյում պայթեցման աշխատանքներ են իրականացվում Կրիստո Ռեյ լեռան վրա, որը կաթոլիկների հայտնի ուխտատեղի է։ Իշխանությունները դիտարկում են պատի շինարարությունը նաև Տեխասում՝ Ռիո Գրանդե գետի ափին գտնվող ռանչոյի տարածքում, որտեղ հին ժայռապատկերներ ու պետրոգլիֆներ կան։

ԱՄՆ Ներքին անվտանգության նախարարությունն այս տարի չեղարկել է բնապահպանական և մշակութային մի շարք սահմանափակումներ, ինչը թույլ է տվել արագացնել շինարարությունը։ Դոնալդ Թրամփի վարչակազմը պատերը համարում է անհրաժեշտ միջոց՝ անօրինական միգրացիայի և թմրամիջոցների մաքսանենգության դեմ պայքարում։

Ծրագրի իրականացման համար դաշնային բյուջեով նախատեսված է ավելի քան 46 միլիարդ դոլար։ Արդեն պայմանագրեր են կնքվել կամ աշխատանքներ են սկսվել սահմանի ավելի քան 600 մղոնի (մոտ 966 կիլոմետր) վրա։ Եվս 370 մղոնի (մոտ 596 կիլոմետր) վրա պլանավորվում կամ կառուցվում է պատնեշների կրկնակի գիծ։

ԱՄՆ Մաքսային և սահմանային ծառայությունը հայտարարում է, թե ձգտում է նվազագույնի հասցնել բնությանն ու մշակութային օբյեկտներին հասցվող վնասը։ Սակայն բնիկ ժողովուրդների ներկայացուցիչները տեղի ունեցածը համարում են սրբավայրերի աննախադեպ ավերում և հիշեցնում, որ դաշնային ու ցեղային հողերում նման օբյեկտների պղծումը քրեական հանցագործություն է։

Ցեղերի առաջնորդները դատական պաշտպանություն են փնտրում և կոչ են անում իշխանություններին պատերը փոխարինել հսկողության ժամանակակից համակարգերով, որոնք թույլ կտան պահպանել եզակի բնական և մշակութային լանդշաֆտները։
