Շոտլանդիայում մի հին պատմական փաստ-լեգենդ կա, որի համաձայն, դարեր առաջ, երբ անգլիացիները Շոտլանդիան փորձում էին իրենցով անել, անգլիացի իշխաններին էր պատկանում նաև շոտլանդացի ամուսնացող զույգերի' հարսի հետ առաջին գիշերն անցկացնելու իրավունքը:
《Կովկասցի》 շոտլանդացիներից շատերը կարողանում էին, տարբեր խորամանկությունների դիմելով, խույս տալ այդ ստորացուցիչ օրենքի կիրառումից, և իրենց կնոջը չէին կիսում անգլիացիների հետ, բայց դա շատ քչերին էր հաջողվում:
Գուցե դա էր պատճառը, որ, երբ այդ զազրելի անգլիացիները մահանում էին, շատ շոտլանդացիներ անգամ թրաշ էին պահում: Նրանց մեջ հաստատ չէին խոսում զուտ մարդկային արժեքներն ու ցավակից կսկիծը, նրանց մեջ հավանաբար խոսում էր հերթական սատկած անգլիացի սրբապիղծ իշխանիկի գենը:
Այսօր քիչ չեն մարդիկ, ովքեր լուրջ սուգ կպահեն, եթե ասենք Գորբաչովը սատկի, վստահ եմ որ լիքը մարդ անգամ թրաշ կպահի, եթե նրա ու նրա զավակների ներկան ու ապագան կործանած որևէ քաղաքական մոլախոտ կնքի իր մահկանացուն:
