«Փաստ» օրաթերթը գրում է.

Արցախն անպայման հետ ենք բերելու և ջնջելու ենք պարտության ամոթի խարանը մեր ճակատից: Նման համոզմունք ունի ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարարի նախկին խորհրդական, Արցախի ազգային հերոս, պահեստազորի գեներալ-մայոր Վարդան Ավետիսյանը:

Ինչ վերաբերում է 44-օրյա պատերազմում պարտությանը, ապա, Ավետիսյանի կարծիքով, դրա համար ստեղծված էին բոլոր օբյեկտիվ ու սուբյեկտիվ պայմանները: «Մենք պարտվեցինք, որովհետև չունեինք ազգային հոգևոր-բարոյական մտածելակերպ, ազգային պետական տնտեսակարգ, ազգային պետական գաղափարախոսություն և ազգային պետական դիվանագիտություն: Ավելին, մենք չունեինք նաև հաղթանակի հասնելու ազգային քաղաքական կամք ու ազգային քաղաքական համաձայնություն: Այնինչ, եթե այս ամենը լիներ, մենք այսօր լրիվ այլ կարգավիճակում կլինեինք, ոչ թե պարտվածի»,-«Փաստի» հետ զրույցում ասում է Վարդան Ավետիսյանն ու հավելում, որ նույնիսկ զինատեսակների, մարդուժի զգալի առավելությունն է առոչինչ, եթե կա ազգային ոգեղենություն, կամք ու համաձայնություն:

Ըստ մեր զրուցակցի, հաղթանակի հասնելու համար բանակի ամբողջ հրամկազմը, վերադաս հրամանատարությունը՝ սկսած պաշտպանության նախարարից՝ իր տեղակալներով, ԳՇ պետից՝ իր տեղակալներով, պետք է առաջին հերթին վճռականություն, համարձակություն և խիզախություն ցուցաբերեին, «ինչը, ցավոք, չեմ տեսել»:

Ավետիսյանը նշում է, որ թշնամին առնվազն չորս ամիս շարունակ նախապատրաստվում էր հարձակման, իրականացնում էր համապատասխան աշխատանքներ, ինչի մասին տեղերից հստակ զեկուցվել է զինուժի վերադաս ատյաններին, սակայն հրամկազմը անհրաժեշտ որոշումներ չէր կայացնում, ընդհակառակը, մարդկանց մեղադրում էին, թե ինչ եք խառնվել իրար, մարդիկ տարածքում ինժեներական աշխատանքներ են կատարում:

Զրույցի վերջում մեր զրուցակիցը նշում է, որ անպայման գալու է բոլոր մեղավորների պատասխան տալու ժամանակը. «Թող չմտածեն, թե մի քանի հոգի դատապարտվել են, ուրեմն՝ վերջ: Ոչ, մեր բանակը, մեր զինվորները, դասակների, անգամ վաշտերի հրամանատարները մինչև վերջ հերոսաբար կռվել են, իսկ երբ խնդիրը հասել է ավելի վերադաս օղակներին, գեներալներին, ապա ակնառու է դարձել պատասխանատվություն վերցնելու բացակայությունը: Ու, այո, շատերն են պատասխան տալու լոյալության, թուլամորթության, անիմացության, անհամարձակության, հենց վախկոտության համար»:
