Հունիսի 16-ին ՀՀ կենտրոնական բանկը շրջանառության մեջ է դնում «Ալեք Մանուկյանի ծննդյան 125-ամյակ» ոսկե հուշադրամը:
ԱԼԵՔ ՄԱՆՈՒԿՅԱՆ (1901–1996 թթ.)՝ ամերիկահայ հայտնի գործարար և մեծ բարերար: Ծնվել է Քասաբայում, Զմյուռնիայի մոտ (Իզմիր)։ Տեղի հայկական դպրոցում սովորելուն զուգահեռ աշխատել է տարբեր վայրերում՝ ձեռք բերելով ձեռներեցության նշանակալի փորձ։
1920 թ․ տեղափոխվել է ԱՄՆ և 1924 թ-ից հաստատվել Դետրոյթում (Միչիգան նահանգ), որտեղ աշխատել է ավտոմեքենաների պահեստամասեր արտադրող մի շարք գործարաններում։
1929 թ. հիմնել է սեփական ձեռնարկությունը՝ «Մասքո կորպորացիան», որն սկզբում զբաղվել է ավտոարդյունաբերական պահեստամասերի արտադրությամբ, ապա ձեռք է բերել միջազգային ճանաչում՝ շնորհիվ «Դելտա» միաբռնակ ծորակի և սանտեխնիկական սարքավորումների արտադրության։
1930 թ. անդամագրվել է Հայկական բարեգործական ընդհանուր միությանը (ՀԲԸՄ) և որպես նախագահ պաշտոնավարել 1953-1989 թթ.։ Նրան հետագայում փոխարինել է դուստրը՝ Լուիզ Սիմոնը:
1942 թ. իր կնոջ՝ Մարի Մանուկյանի հետ հիմնել է Ալեք և Մարի Մանուկյան հիմնադրամը և մեծ գումարներ նվիրաբերել հայկական ծրագրերի իրականացմանը բազմաթիվ երկրներում՝ Հայաստան, ԱՄՆ, Կանադա, Արգենտինա, Ուրուգվայ, Հոլանդիա, Ֆրանսիա, Լիբանան, Երուսաղեմ, Իրան, Ավստրալիա։ Էական ներդրումներ ուղղվել են եկեղեցու, դպրոցների, մշակութային կենտրոնների, գրադարանների, ծերանոցների կառուցմանը և բարենորոգմանը, համալսարաններում հայագիտական ամբիոնների հիմնադրմանը, երիտասարդական կազմակերպությունների աջակցմանը:
Բարեգործական ավանդի համար արժանացել է բազմաթիվ միջազգային մրցանակների ու մեծարման, մի շարք համալսարանների պատվավոր դոկտորի կոչումների: 1994 թ. նրան շնորհվել է Հայաստանի ազգային հերոսի կոչում և հանձնվել Հայրենիքի շքանշան: Հայաստանում և աշխարհի բազմաթիվ քաղաքներում նրա անունով անվանակոչվել են դպրոցներ ու փողոցներ:
Մեծ բարերարի և նրա կնոջ աճյունները հանգչում են Մայր Աթոռ Սուրբ էջմիածնում՝ իրենց իսկ նվիրաբերությամբ կառուցված «Ալեք և Մարի Մանուկյան» գանձատան դիմաց:
