Ֆուտբոլի 2026 թվականի աշխարհի առաջնության խմբային փուլի առաջին տուրի շրջանակներում կայացել է ևս երկու հանդիպում՝ G և H խմբերում։ Հանդիպումներն աչքի են ընկել համառ պայքարով և ավարտվել են ոչ-ոքի արդյունքներով։
H խմբի շրջանակներում Ուրուգվայի հավաքականը Մայամիում մրցել է Սաուդյան Արաբիայի թիմի հետ։ Հանդիպումն ավարտվել է 1:1 հաշվով։ Առաջին խաղակեսի վերջնամասում՝ 41-րդ րոպեին, սաուդցիներին առաջ է մղել Աբդուլելահ Ալ-Ամրին: Հարավամերիկացիները կարողացել են պատասխան գնդակը խփել միայն հանդիպման վերջնամասում. 80-րդ րոպեին աչքի է ընկել Մաքսիմիլիանո Արաուխոն՝ փրկելով իր թիմին պարտությունից։
Խաղը նշանավորվել է պատմական ռեկորդով։ Ուրուգվայի հավաքականի դարպասապահ Ֆեռնանդո Մուսլերան դարձել է իր երկրի ազգային թիմի կազմում աշխարհի առաջնություններին մասնակցած ամենատարեց ֆուտբոլիստը։ Նա խաղադաշտ է դուրս եկել 39 տարեկան և 364 օրական հասակում՝ գերազանցելով պաշտպան Դիեգո Գոդինի ցուցանիշը (36 տարեկան, 285 օրական՝ ԱԱ-2022-ի ժամանակ)։
G խմբի առաջին տուրում Իրանի ազգային հավաքականը ուժերն է չափել Նոր Զելանդիայի ընտրանու հետ։ ԱՄՆ-ի Ինգլվուդ քաղաքի «Սոու-Ֆայ» մարզադաշտում կայացած հանդիպումը, որը սպասարկում էր մեքսիկացի մրցավար Սեսար Ռամոս Պալասուելոսը, ավարտվել է գոլառատ ոչ-ոքիով՝ 2:2։
Խաղի հաշիվն արդեն 7-րդ րոպեին բացել է Նոր Զելանդիայի հարձակվող Էլայջա Ջասթը։ Իրանցիները պատասխանել են 33-րդ րոպեին. հավասարակշռությունը վերականգնել է պաշտպան Ռամին Ռեզայանը։ Երկրորդ խաղակեսում Էլայջա Ջասթը դուբլ է ձևակերպել՝ կրկին առաջ մղելով նորզելանդացիներին, սակայն կարճ ժամանակ անց կիսապաշտպան Մոհամադ Մոհեբին դրել է հանդիպման վերջակետը՝ փրկելով Իրանին պարտությունից:
