ԱԱ-2026-ի 1/8 եզրափակիչում Նորվեգիայի հավաքականից կրած ցավալի պարտությունից (1:2) հետո Բրազիլիայի ազգային հավաքականի հարձակվող Նեյմարը հայտարարել է միջազգային կարիերան ավարտելու մասին։
34-ամյա ֆուտբոլիստը, ով ներկայումս հանդես է գալիս բրազիլական «Սանթոսում», հանդիպումից հետո չի կարողացել զսպել արցունքները և հանդես է եկել էմոցիոնալ հայտարարությամբ։«Ես փորձեցի, ես փորձեցի։ Այժմ ամեն ինչ ավարտված է։ Ես սկսել եմ այստեղ, այստեղ էլ ավարտում եմ»,- Նեյմարի խոսքերն է մեջբերում Globo-ն։
Նորվեգիայի դեմ խաղում եվրոպացիներին հաղթանակ պարգևեց Էրլինգ Հալանդը՝ դառնալով դուբլի հեղինակ (79-րդ և 90-րդ րոպեներին)։ Նեյմարը, ով վնասվածքից ապաքինվելու պատճառով բաց էր թողել մրցաշարի խմբային փուլի առաջին երկու հանդիպումները, փոխարինման դուրս եկավ 67-րդ րոպեին։ Նրան հաջողվեց կրճատել հաշվի տարբերությունը միայն մրցավարի կողմից ավելացված ժամանակում՝ 90+10-րդ րոպեին անվրեպ իրացնելով 11-մետրանոց հարվածը, սակայն դա չփրկեց բրազիլացիներին մրցաշարից դուրս մնալուց։
Նեյմարը հեռանում է որպես Բրազիլիայի հավաքականի պատմության լավագույն ռմբարկու։ Ազգային թիմի կազմում իր նորամուտը նշելով 2010 թվականին՝ նա ընդհանուր առմամբ անցկացրել է 130 հանդիպում, դարձել 80 գոլի և 59 գոլային փոխանցման հեղինակ։
Նորվեգիայի դեմ խաղը Նեյմարի համար 15-րդն էր Աշխարհի առաջնություններում. այս ցուցանիշով նա գերազանցեց ֆուտբոլի արքա, աշխարհի եռակի չեմպիոն Պելեին։
Իր միջազգային կարիերայի ընթացքում Նեյմարը մասնակցել է Աշխարհի չորս առաջնությունների, իսկ Բրազիլիայի հավաքականի հետ հասցրել է նվաճել Օլիմպիական խաղերի ոսկե մեդալը (2016թ․) և Կոնֆեդերացիաների գավաթը (2013թ․)։
