Ամռանը շատերին ծանոթ է այս իրավիճակը․ նույն վայրում նստած մարդկանցից մեկը գրեթե ոչ մի խայթոց չի ստանում, իսկ մյուսը մի քանի րոպեում հայտնվում է մոծակների «թիրախում»։ Շատերը կարծում են, թե պատճառը «քաղցր արյունն» է, սակայն գիտությունը բոլորովին այլ բացատրություն ունի։

Վերջին տարիների ուսումնասիրությունները ցույց են տվել, որ մոծակների ընտրությունը մեծապես կախված է մարդու մարմնի հոտից։ Հատկապես կարևոր դեր ունեն մաշկի վրա արտադրվող որոշ ճարպաթթուներ՝ կարբոքսիլաթթուները։ Գիտնականները պարզել են, որ այն մարդիկ, որոնց մաշկի վրա այս միացությունների քանակն ավելի բարձր է, զգալիորեն ավելի գրավիչ են մոծակների համար, և այդ առանձնահատկությունը կարող է պահպանվել տարիներ շարունակ։

Սակայն դա միակ գործոնը չէ։ Մոծակներն առաջին հերթին արձագանքում են արտաշնչվող ածխաթթու գազին (CO₂)։ Որքան շատ CO₂ է արտազատվում, այնքան հեշտ են դրանք գտնում մարդուն։ Այդ պատճառով ֆիզիկական ակտիվությունից հետո, շոգ եղանակին կամ արագ քայլելուց հետո խայթոցների հավանականությունը մեծանում է։ Բացի այդ, մոծակներին գրավում են մարմնի ջերմությունը, քրտինքը և մաշկի բնական միկրոֆլորայի ստեղծած յուրահատուկ հոտը։

Հետաքրքիր է, որ լայն տարածում ունեցող այն կարծիքը, թե ամեն ինչ կախված է արյան խմբից, դեռևս վերջնական հաստատված չէ։ Թեև որոշ հետազոտություններ ենթադրում են, որ որոշ արյան խմբեր կարող են ավելի գրավիչ լինել, գիտնականները նշում են, որ մաշկի քիմիական կազմն ու մարմնի հոտը շատ ավելի կարևոր գործոններ են, քան արյան խումբը։

Մասնագետների խոսքով՝ մոծակների ուշադրությունը կարող են ավելի շատ գրավել նաև մուգ գույնի հագուստը, բարձր մարմնի ջերմաստիճանը, ալկոհոլի օգտագործումից հետո օրգանիզմում առաջացող փոփոխությունները և ինտենսիվ քրտնարտադրությունը։ Հենց այդ պատճառով նույն ընկերախմբում հաճախ միայն մեկ կամ երկու մարդ են ամենաշատ խայթոցներ ստանում։

Եթե ցանկանում եք նվազեցնել խայթոցների հավանականությունը, մասնագետները խորհուրդ են տալիս երեկոյան ժամերին կրել բաց գույնի և հնարավորինս փակ հագուստ, օգտագործել մոծակների դեմ պաշտպանիչ միջոցներ, ինչպես նաև չթողնել տան շրջակայքում կանգնած ջուր, որտեղ մոծակները բազմանում են։
