ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը հայտարարել է, որ Կանադան ուզում է «օգտվել նահանգի կարգավիճակի առավելություններից՝ նահանգ չդառնալով»՝ երկու երկրների միջև առևտրային բանակցությունների տապալումից հետո։

«Բացի այդ, նրանք երկար տարիներ հսկայական մաքսատուրքեր էին գանձում մեր հրաշալի ֆերմերներից։ Բավական է!!!», – գրել է նա Truth Social սոցիալական ցանցում։

Միևնույն ժամանակ Կանադայի վարչապետ Մարկ Քարնին ամերիկյան նոր մաքսատուրքերն անվանել է «սխալ հաշվարկ», որը կոչված է «վնասել մեզ և պառակտել մեզ», և հայտարարել է, որ սեպտեմբերի 8-ից կսահմանվեն պատասխան մաքսատուրքեր՝ «դոլարը դոլարի դիմաց» սկզբունքով, գրում է BBC News-ը։

«Երբ քո վրա հարձակվում են, դա պատերազմ է։ Մեր վրա հարձակվել են», — հայտարարել է Քարնին՝ տեղի ունեցողը որակելով որպես ԱՄՆ-ի և Կանադայի միջև առևտրային պատերազմ։

ԱՄՆ-ի նոր 50-տոկոսանոց մաքսատուրքերը վերաբերում են կանադական ներմուծման մոտ 20 մլրդ դոլարին՝ դրա ընդհանուր ծավալի շուրջ 5%-ին։ Ցանկում ներառվել են, մասնավորապես, գինին, կաթնամթերքը, ցեմենտը, հագուստը և հոկեյի սարքավորումները։ Դրանք լրացնում են արդեն գործող ամերիկյան մաքսատուրքերը կանադական պողպատի, ալյումինի, ավտոմեքենաների և շինափայտի նկատմամբ։

Քարնին հայտարարել է, որ Կանադան դժկամությամբ է սահմանում պատասխան միջոցներ, սակայն մտադիր է պաշտպանել իր շահերը։ Ըստ նրա, Վաշինգտոնը չափազանց շատ բան է պահանջել, այդ թվում՝ սահմանափակել Կանադայի հնարավորությունը այլ երկրների հետ առևտրային համաձայնագրեր կնքելու հարցում։

Ամերիկյան կողմն, իր հերթին, Կանադային մեղադրել է նոր պահանջներ առաջադրելու և նախկինում համաձայնեցված պայմաններից հրաժարվելու մեջ։ ԱՄՆ առևտրային ներկայացուցիչ Ջեյմիսոն Գրիրը հայտարարել է, որ Վաշինգտոնը առայժմ չի ծրագրում վերսկսել բանակցությունները։

Բանակցությունների տապալումը տեղի է ունեցել ավելի քան մեկ տարվա ընթացքում պարբերական առևտրային խորհրդակցություններից հետո և վտանգի տակ է դրել երկու երկրների սերտորեն ինտեգրված տնտեսական հարաբերությունները։ ԱՄՆ-ին, Կանադային և Մեքսիկային բաժին է ընկնում տարեկան շուրջ 1,6 տրլն դոլարի առևտուր, որը կարգավորվում է USMCA համաձայնագրով։
