ԱՄՆ իշխանությունները վախենում էին, որ Իրանի հետ հակամարտության պատճառով ռազմամթերքի պակասի մասին տեղեկատվության արտահոսքը կարող էր տեղի ունեցած լինել օտարերկրյա հետախուզության գործակալի պատճառով՝ այդ տվյալներին հասանելիություն ունեցողների նեղ շրջանակում, հայտնում է CBS հեռուստաալիքը՝ հղում անելով պաշտոնյաներին, հաղորդում է ՌԻԱ Նովոստի-ն։
Ավոլի վաղ New York Times թերթը հայտնել էր, որ քննիչները ստի դետեկտորով ստուգել են ԱՄՆ ԶՈՒ Միացյալ շտաբի շուրջ 50 ռազմական և քաղաքացիական աշխատակիցների՝ լրագրողներին արտահոսքերի, այդ թվում՝ Իրանի հետ հակամարտության պատճառով ռազմամթերքի պակասի մասին տեղեկատվության հետաքննության շրջանակներում:
«Ռազմամթերքի գաղտնի մանրամասներին հասանելիություն ուներ անձանց միայն շատ փոքր շրջանակ, և մտավախություններ կային, որ ինչ-որ մեկը պոտենցիալ կերպով կարող էր գործել որպես օտարերկրյա հետախուզության գործակալ»,- ասվում է ալիքի հաղորդագրության մեջ:
