Պետության ղեկավարի պաշտոնը զբաղեցնող անձի վերջին հայտարարությունը՝ կապված Ռուսաստանի Դաշնության կողմից գազի հնարավոր թանկացման և դրան ի պատասխան «ինչ-որ բան թանկացնելու» մտադրության հետ, դուրս է տնտեսագիտական ու դիվանագիտական ամենասովորական պատկերացումներից։
Սա պարզապես անպատասխանատու հայտարարություն չէ. սա պետական կառավարման և տարրական տնտեսագիտական օրենքների կատարյալ չիմացության, տգիտության ու դիվանագիտական սնանկության ակնհայտ ապացույց է։


Առաջին՝ էներգակիրների գնագոյացումը և միջպետական տնտեսական հարաբերությունները փոխադարձ «սպառնալիքների» կամ «կենցաղային վրեժխնդրության» տիրույթում չեն գտնվում։ «Դուք գազը թանկացնեք, մենք էլ ձեզ համար մի բան կթանկացնենք» տրամաբանությունը վկայում է այն մասին, որ երկրի առաջնորդը չի հասկանում հայ-ռուսական տնտեսական հարաբերությունների մասշտաբն ու կառուցվածքը։ Հայաստանը չունի ռազմավարական այնպիսի լծակներ, որոնց միակողմանի թանկացմամբ կամ սահմանափակմամբ կարողանա «պատժել» Ռուսաստանին՝ առանց սեփական տնտեսությանը կործանարար հարված հասցնելու։
Երկրորդ՝ նման հայտարարությունը փաստացի նշանակում է հրաժարում բանակցային գործընթացից: Դիվանագիտության և պետական շահերի պաշտպանության փոխարեն ընտրվում է հրապարակային դիմակայության և էսկալացիայի ճանապարհը: Գազի գնի շուրջ բանակցությունները պահանջում են հաշվարկված, փաստարկված, պրոֆեսիոնալ ու լուրջ աշխատանք, այլ ոչ թե մանկամիտ «սպառնալիքներ», որոնք միայն վատթարացնում են Հայաստանի բանակցային позицияները։


Երրորդ՝ այս անպատասխանատու քաղաքականության վերջնական գինը վճարելու է Հայաստանի քաղաքացին: Էներգակիրների թանկացումը ավտոմատ կերպով բերելու է ապրանքների ու ծառայությունների համատարած թանկացման, արտադրության ինքնարժեքի բարձրացման, տնտեսության մրցունակության անկման և սոցիալական ծանրագույն բեռի:


Պետության ղեկավարի պաշտոնում հայտնված անձը պարտավոր է հասկանալ, որ պետական շահը պահանջում է հավասարակշռված, հեռատես և պրոֆեսիոնալ արտաքին քաղաքականություն, այլ ոչ թե էմոցիոնալ ու անգրագետ հայտարարություններ, որոնք վտանգում են երկրի տնտեսական անվտանգությունն ու քաղաքացիների նյութական բարեկեցությունը:
