ԱՄՆ Ներկայացուցիչների պալատը մեծամասնությամբ հավանություն է տվել Ռուսաստանի դեմ պատժամիջոցները խստացնող օրինագծին։

Սեպտեմբերի 16-ին նախաձեռնության օգտին քվեարկել է 262 կոնգրեսական, դեմ՝ 159-ը։ Ավելի վաղ Սենատը պաշտպանել էր օրինագիծը՝ 86 կողմ և 11 դեմ ձայներով։ Այժմ փաստաթուղթը սպասում է ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփի հաստատմանը։ Սպիտակ տան խոսնակը «The Wall Street Journal»-ին հայտնել է, որ Թրամփը մտադիր է ստորագրել այն։

Ավելի վաղ մի շարք դեմոկրատներ և հանրապետականներ քննադատել էին օրինագիծը՝ նշելով, որ այն Թրամփին լրացուցիչ լիազորություններ է տալիս մաքսատուրքերի հարցում՝ միաժամանակ լայն հնարավորություններ ընձեռելով բացառություններ անելու պատժամիջոցային ռեժիմից։ Օրենսդիրները նաև մտահոգություն էին հայտնել, որ ռուսական էներգակիրների գնորդների նկատմամբ երկրորդային մաքսատուրքերի կիրառումը կարող է ապակայունացնել շուկաները և հանգեցնել ԱՄՆ-ում գների բարձրացման։
