Աշխարհում կան երկրներ, որոնք երկար տարիներ չեն մասնակցել պատերազմների կամ հայտնի են իրենց չեզոք քաղաքականությամբ։

Ամենահայտնի օրինակներից են Շվեյցարիան, Ավստրիան, Թուրքմենստանը, Կոստա Ռիկան, Իսլանդիան և Լիխտենշտեյնը։ Սակայն նրանցից յուրաքանչյուրի պատմությունն ու անվտանգության համակարգը տարբեր են։

Շվեյցարիա․ 1815 թվականից ունի միջազգային մակարդակով ճանաչված մշտական չեզոքության կարգավիճակ։ Երկիրը չի մասնակցում այլ պետությունների պատերազմներին, բայց ունի սեփական բանակ՝ իր տարածքը պաշտպանելու համար։

Ավստրիա․ 1955 թվականին սահմանադրորեն ամրագրել է մշտական չեզոքությունը։ Այնուամենայնիվ, ունի զինված ուժեր և չի կարող երաշխավորել, որ երբևէ չի ներքաշվի հակամարտության մեջ։ 

Թուրքմենստան․ աշխարհի միակ երկիրն է, որի մշտական չեզոքությունը պաշտոնապես ճանաչվել է ՄԱԿ-ի Գլխավոր ասամբլեայի կողմից՝ 1995 թվականին։ 
Կոստա Ռիկա․ առանձնանում է նրանով, որ 1948 թվականի քաղաքացիական պատերազմից հետո հրաժարվել է մշտական բանակ ունենալուց, իսկ 1949 թվականին այդ արգելքն ամրագրել է Սահմանադրությամբ։ 1983-ին նաև հայտարարել է մշտական չեզոքություն։ 

Իսլանդիա․ սեփական բանակ չունի, սակայն անդամակցում է ՆԱՏՕ-ին և ունի անվտանգության համագործակցություն ԱՄՆ-ի հետ։ Կարևոր է նշել, որ Երկրորդ համաշխարհային պատերազմի տարիներին երկիրը օկուպացվել էր բրիտանական ուժերի կողմից։

Լիխտենշտեյն․ բանակը վերացրել է դեռևս 1868 թվականին։ Երկրի անվտանգությունն ապահովվում է այլ մեխանիզմներով, այդ թվում՝ սերտ համագործակցությամբ հարևան Շվեյցարիայի հետ։

Այսպիսով, եթե հարցը վերաբերում է այն երկրներին, որտեղ պատերազմ սկսվելու հավանականությունը համեմատաբար փոքր է, կարելի է առանձնացնել հենց այս պետությունները։ Բայց չեզոքությունը, բանակ չունենալը կամ երկարատև խաղաղությունը չեն նշանակում, որ երկիրը պաշտպանված է բոլոր հնարավոր հակամարտություններից։

Past.am-ի դիտարկմամբ՝ աշխարհի փորձը ցույց է տալիս, որ խաղաղությունը միայն աշխարհագրական դիրքով կամ չեզոքության մասին հայտարարությամբ չի ապահովվում․ այն կախված է նաև դիվանագիտությունից, միջազգային հարաբերություններից, անվտանգության երաշխիքներից և պետության ներքին կայունությունից։ Ուստի այն հարցին, թե որ երկրում պատերազմ երբեք չի լինի, հստակ պատասխան չկա։
