Ռուսաստանյան հանրությունը պառակտելու փորձերը չհաջողվեցին, և պետք է արժանին մատուցել Ռուսաստանի նախագահ Վլադիմիր Պուտինին, որը երկար տարիներ աշխատել է դրա համար։ Այս մասին ՌԻԱ Նովոստիին ասել է ԱՊՀ գործերով, եվրասիական ինտեգրման և հայրենակիցների հետ կապերի Պետդումայի կոմիտեի ղեկավար Լեոնիդ Կալաշնիկովը:

Պուտինը նոյեմբերի 3–ին Ազգամիջյան հարաբերությունների խորհրդի նիստում նշել էր, որ արտաքին ուժերը ողջ պատմության ընթացքում փորձել են պառակտել ռուսաստանյան հասարակությունը, հասնել Ռուսաստանի մասնատմանը, որպեսզի ազատվեն միջազգային ասպարեզում մրցակցությունից: Սակայն, ինչպես ընդգծել էր ՌԴ նախագահը, ժողովուրդների միասնությունը դարձել է ազգային ինքնիշխանության ամրապնդման և Ռուսաստանի պահպանման կարևորագույն գործոնը:

«Խոսել այն մասին, թե մեզ չհաջողվեց և չի հաջողվի (պառակտել՝ խմբ.), իհարկե լավ է, բայց այստեղ պետք է արժանին մատուցել Պուտինին. նա այս տարիների ընթացքում շատ է աշխատել դրա համար»,– ասել է Կալաշնիկովը:

Նա հիշեցրել է, որ 1917 թվականի փետրվարին երկիրը «կտոր-կտոր եղավ», իսկ ազգային ծայրամասերը փլուզվեցին, մինչև բոլշևիկները դրանք հետ հավաքեցին զենքի ուժով և որոշակի ուղերձներով, համոզելով: Կոմիտեի ղեկավարի խոսքով՝ 1991 թվականին ամեն ինչ սկսվեց ազգայնական հոսանքներից, որոնք ասում էին, թե «ռուսներին չեն կերակրելու»:

Կալաշնիկովը նաև հավելել է, որ Ուկրաինայի բախտը չի բերել ղեկավարների հարցում, և երկրում իշխանության են եկել ազգայնականները: Միևնույն ժամանակ, նրա խոսքով, անցյալի փորձը ցույց է տալիս, որ Ռուսաստանն ու Ուկրաինան մեկ միասնական ժողովուրդ են:

«Եվ պետք է արժանին մատուցել Խորհրդային Միությանը, որը ոչ մի լեզու չքանդեց, ոչ մի մշակույթ չկործանեց, գրքեր էր հրատարակում: Պարտադիր էր՝ եթե առաջին քարտուղարը ռուս էր, ապա երկրորդը բուրյատ էր լինում: Եթե առաջինը բուրյատ էր, ապա երկրորդը՝ ռուս: Նույնիսկ նման դետալներին ու մանրուքներին Խորհրդային Միությունը մեծ նշանակություն էր տալիս»,-եզրափակել է խորհրդարանականը:

Ժողովրդական միասնության օրը սահմանվել է Ռուսաստանի Միջկրոնական խորհրդի նախաձեռնությամբ և առաջին անգամ նշվել է 21 տարի առաջ՝ 2005 թվականին: Այդ պահից ի վեր այս օրը Ռուսաստանում դարձել է ոչ աշխատանքային: Պատմականորեն այն կապված է 17-րդ դարում Խառնակ ժամանակաշրջանի ավարտի հետ: Տոնը նվիրված է 1612 թվականի իրադարձություններին, երբ Կուզմա Մինինի և իշխան Դմիտրի Պոժարսկու առաջնորդությամբ ժողովրդական աշխարհազորն ազատագրեց Մոսկվան լեհ զավթիչներից:
