Փիթ Հեգսեթը, չնայած իրեն հնարավոր փոխարինելու մասին հաղորդագրություններին, կմնա ԱՄՆ պատերազմի նախարարի պաշտոնում մինչև Դոնալդ Թրամփի նախագահական ժամկետի ավարտը, Fox News հեռուստաալիքին տված հարցազրույցում հայտարարել է Պենտագոնի պաշտոնական ներկայացուցիչ Շոն Փարնելը։

Հեգսեթը «100 տոկոսով կղեկավարի գերատեսչությունը մինչև նախագահ Թրամփի լիազորությունների ժամկետի ավարտը», ասել է նա։

Փարնելը նշել է. «Նախարար Հեգսեթը չի նահանջի և թույլ չի տա, որ իրեն վախեցնեն քաղաքական գործիչները, որոնք փորձում են միավորներ հավաքել կուսակցական պայքարում կամ շինծու հետաքննություններ նախաձեռնել այնտեղ, որտեղ որևէ խախտում չկա»։

«Պատերազմի նախարարությունը գործում է օրենքին խստորեն համապատասխան, և մեր նախարարը կշարունակի ամեն օր պայքարել հանուն սահմանադրության պահպանման ու պաշտպանության, ղեկավարել մեր զորքերը և պաշտպանել Ամերիկան, — հավելել է Փարնելը։ — Մենք կշարունակենք նախարարությունում իրականացնել նախագահ Թրամփի քաղաքականությունը՝ չնայած բեմադրված «վհուկների որս» կազմակերպելու դեմոկրատների սպառնալիքներին»։

Ավելի վաղ Թրամփը հայտարարել էր, որ գոհ է Պենտագոնի ղեկավար Փիթ Հեգսեթի աշխատանքից և չի դիտարկում նրան պաշտոնանկ անելու հարցը։

«Ո՛չ, կարծում եմ՝ նա հիանալի է կատարում իր աշխատանքը», — չորեքշաբթի լրագրողներին ասել է նա՝ պատասխանելով այն հարցին, թե արդյոք պատրաստվում է պաշտոնանկ անել պատերազմի նախարարին։

Չորեքշաբթի CBS News հեռուստաալիքը, հղում անելով աղբյուրներին, հայտնել էր, որ ԱՄՆ Կոնգրեսի միջանկյալ ընտրություններում դեմոկրատների հաղթանակից հետո Թրամփը խորհրդականների հետ քննարկում է Հեգսեթի ապագան։
