Մեգան Բեյկերն ու Ադամ Ուորներն իդեալական զույգ էին: Մեգանի բոլոր ընկերուհիները նրան անկեղծորեն նախանձում էին:
Ցավոք, աղջկա երջանկությունը երկար չտևեց: 28 տարեկանում նրան սարսափելի ախտորոշում արեցին՝ կաթնագեղձի քաղցկեղ… Այնուամենայնիվ Մեգանը չէր հանձնվում և փորձում էր ապրել լիարժեք կյանքով:
Հաջորդ տարի նա իր անձնական բլոգը բացեց, որտեղ մանրամասն պատմում էր քաղցկեղի դեմ իր պայքարի մասին: Մեգանը լցված էր լավատեսությամբ և հուսադրող գրառումներ էր անում նույնիսկ քիմիոթերապիայից և կրծքի հեռացման վիրահատություն հետո:
Մեգանի էջի գրառումներից մեկը առանձնանում էր մյուսներից: Դա 30 բաների ցուցակն էր, որը նա ցանկանում էր անել իր կյանքում: Մասնավորապես, նա շատ էր ցանկանում որևէ երաժշտական գործիքի վրա նվագել սովորել, ծրագրել էր օգնել անապահով երեխաներին, ճանապարհորդել աշխարհով մեկ և ապրել ամենաքիչը հինգ երկրներում:
Այդ ցուցակի առաջին կետն էր. «Ամուսնանալ Ադամի հետ»: Նախօրեին նրա սիրելին ամուսնության առաջարկություն էր արել: Նույնիսկ իմանալով Մեգանի ծանր հիվանդության մասին՝ Ադամը նրան չլքեց: Նա որոշել էր աղջկա հետ ապրել և՛ ուրախության, և՛ դժբախտության պահերին:
Որքան էլ որ ցավալի լինի, բայց Մեգանը չհասցրեց իր ցուցակի մյուս կետերն իրականացնել: Քանի որ հարսանիքից մեկ ամիս հետո նա մահացավ…
Հուղարկավորությունից անմիջապես հետո Ադամը բացեց նրա բլոգը: Նա հայտնեց Մեգանի ընկերներին իր կորստի մասին և երդվեց, որ ավարտին կհասցնի Մեգանի սկսած գործերի ցուցակը:
«Մեգանն ընդմիշտ իմ սրտում է: Նա ամեն տեղ ինձ ուղեկցում է անտեսանելի կերպով: Այդ պատճառով էլ նա կարող է ինձ հետ միասին ավարտին հասցնել իր մտածածները», – գրում է Ադամը:
Շուտով այս պատմությունը հանրությանը հասանելի դարձավ: Շատ լրատվամիջոցներ Ադամի մասին տեսանյութեր նկարահանեցին: Սակայն նա ինքը չէր կարծում, որ ինչ-որ արտառոց բան է արել: «Սա ամենաքիչն է, որ ես կարող եմ անել իմ Մեգանի համար: Հուսով եմ, որ նա հետևում է ինձ երկնքից և վերապրում է այն նույն զգացողությունները՝ ինչ ես», – ասել է Ադամը հարցազրույցներից մեկի ժամանակ:
