Ինչո՞ւ են մարդիկ ծխում. իրենք էլ գիտեն, որ ծխի ամեն ներքաշից սպանվում եմ հազարավոր բջիջներ և ի վերջո մեռնում են հենց իրենք:
Ըստ պատմական աղբյուրների` ծխախոտաբույսի մշակումը սկսվել է 6000 տարի առաջ՝ Հարավային Ամերիկայում, և միայն 5000 տարի առաջ Մայաները սկսեցին ծամել և ծխել ծխախոտաբույսը: Ծխախոտը, կարելի է ասել, որ սկիզբ է առել հենց Մայաներից, ու հասել է մինչ մեր օրերը` դառնալով տարատեսակ ու ձեռք բերելով մեծ պահանջարկ: Այժմ բոլոր կիրթ քաղաքներում արգելված է ծխախոտի գովազդումը, ծխելը հասարակական վայրերում, ամենուր մարդիկ իրավունք ունեն տեղեկանալու ծխախոտի դեմ բոլոր միջոցառումներին և անվճար տեղեկանալու պատճառների և հետևանքների մասին: Մեր օրերում կան հազարավոր միջոցառումներ, որոնք բարձրացնում են մարդկանց ինքնագիտակցությունը և կոչ են անում չծխել: Մի քանի տարի առաջ ծխախոտի դեմ պայքարը այսքան բուռն չէր, ինչ հիմա, սակայն ըստ վիճակագրության ծխող մարդկանց թիվը ավելացել է: Տարօրինակ է, բայց փաստ. կարող ենք անել հետևություն, որ ինչքան արգելվում է, այդքան քաղցրանում: 

 Ծխելու պատճառները շատ են: Սովորույթները շատ ժամանակ ստեղծում են կախվածություն: Ծխելու հանդեպ հակումը առաջանում է տարբեր գործոններից: Օրինակ զգացողութուններից: Սրանք շատ կարևոր են, քանի որ շատ ժամանակ ծխախոտի օգտագործումը գալիս է հենց տրամադրությունից: Բացի նյարդրը հանգստացնելու ցանկությունից, կա նաև հոգեբանական կախվածություն ասվածը: Այսինքն անհատին դուր է գալիս օգտագործումը, պահելու, վառելու ձևը: Ինչպես նաև այս գործոնի մեջ է մտնում այն հավատը, որը ներշնչում է իրեն անհատը` հավատալով, որ ծխախոտը ի զորու է լուծել իր խնդիրները:  Ծխելն առաջացնում է նաև հիվանդություններ: Մարդու մարմնի բոլոր մասերը հանդիսանում են ծխելու կրիչները, և անուղղակիորեն իրենց վրա են վերցնում մի շարք հիվանդություններ: Ծխելու հետևանքով առաջանում է բերան-կոկորդի քաղցկեղ, որը բուժելը կախված է շատ մեծ գումարներից և այլ գործոններից, առաջացնում է հիվանդություններ ոսկորների շրջանում: Սրտի հիվանդությունները անպակաս են, ծխելը ազդում է սրտի աշխատանքի վրա, ստեղծում է սիրտ-անոթային մի շարք հիվանդություններ:
  Ստամոքսում՝ խոց, կանանց մոտ առաջացնում է պտղաբերության հետ խնդիր, իսկ տղամարդկանց` իմպոտենցիա: Ծխել թողնելը դեռ գործի սկիզբն է, պետք է ունենաս մեծ կամքի ուժ, որպեսզի ազատվես այդ կախվածությունից և մնաց չծխողի ազդեցության ներքո: Ծխելը թողնելուց հետո կզգաք նյարդային պոռթկումներ. դրանք սովորական երևույթներն են, գրգռված նյարդային վիճակը գալիս է նիկոտինի պակասից, սակայն այդ վիճակը կտևի մինչև 48ժամ, երկու օրից արդեն նկատելի կլինի սրտի լավ աշխատանքը, հազի քչությունը: 
 Ծխել սկսում են հիմնականում դեռահասները՝ դպրոցական տարիքից: Սկզբնական շրջանում մի ընկերոջից մյուսին տարածվող գաղափարը դառնում է սովորություն, և երեխան սկսում է ծխել: 90%-ով այն դառնում կախվածություն, իսկ այն տասը տոկոսը սկսում է սառը մտածել ծխել թե՞… : Գիտնականները ապացուցել են, որ դեռահասնների շրջանում սա դարձել է կարծրատիպ, որ նրանք անպայման պետք է ծխեն: Ահա պարզ է, որ կարծրատիպ է, լուծումներ կան, սակայն ապարդյուն: Որպես վերջաբան կասեմ, որ պետք չէ անել մի բան, որը կորցնելուց հետո չեք կարող վերականգնել: Պե՛տք է լինել գիտակից և հասկանալ, թե ինչ բան է առողջությունը:
