Մեռելների գրոհը․ ինչպես 60 ռուս զինվորներ խուճապահար փախուստի մատնեցին 7000 գերմանացի ռազմիկների

226-րդ Զեմլյանյան գնդի 13-րդ վաշտը, իսկ ավելի ճիշտ՝ այն, ինչ մնացել էր վաշտից գազային գրոհներից հետո, ամբողջովին բեկեցին պատերազմների պատմությունն ու ապացուցեցին, որ անգա, ամենաարդյունավետ թունավոր գազերը չեն կարող կոտրել իսկական ռազմիկի ոգին։ Երբ գերմանացիների զորաջոկատները սկսեցին մոտենալ գազերով թունավորված ռուսական խրամատներին, թանձր կանաչ քլորային մառախուղի միջից անսպասելիորեն սկսեցին դուրս վազել ռուս «մեռելները»։ Մի քանի տասնյակ զինվորներ՝ դեմքները կտորներով փաթաթած ու ամբողջովին արյան մեջ կորած, մերձամարտի նետվեցին՝ ցանկանալով սվինահարել գերմանացիներին։ Վազելիս նրանք հազում էին ու այդ ընթացքում նրանց բերաններից ժայթքում էին սեփական թոքերի կտորները, բայց ռուսները շարունակում էին առաջանալ։
60 ռուս զինվորներ՝ անտեսելով մահն ու ցանկացած տրամաբանություն, իրենց նետեցին 7000 գերմանացիների վրա ու իրենց տեսքով իսկ խուճապ առաջացրեցին գերմանացիների մոտ, ովքեր սկսեցին հետ փաախնել՝ սարսափելի խուճապի մեջ։ Արդյունքում, նրանք լռվում էին սեփական ամրալարերի վրա ու տրորվում էին իրենց հետևից վազող զինակիցների կողմից։ Սարսափահար գերմանական զորախմբին սիստեմատիկ ոչնչացնում էր ռուսական հրետանին, որը շարունակում էլ աշխատել կանաչ մառախուղի խորքից։
Ամեն կենդանի բան մահանում է քլորի թունավոր գազերից ու այդ մի քանի տասնյակ քաջերն էլ մահացան, բայց նրանք ապացուցեցին, որ մահը միշտ չէ, որ կարող է լինել պարտության պատճառ։ Ասում են, թե հենց այս դրրվագից էլ ծմվել է «Ռուսները երբեք չեն հանձնվում» լեգենդար արտահայտությունը․․․
