ԱՄՆ-ը եւ Հյուսիսատլանտյան դաշինքի գծով նրա դաշնակիցները միջոցներ են ձեռնարկում, որպեսզի անհրաժեշտության դեպքում պատրաստ լինեն Ռուսաստանի հետ հակամարտությանը Եվրոպայում: Պենտագոնում լրագրողների հետ կայացած հանդիպմանն այս մասին հայտարարել Է Եվրոպայում ՆԱՏՕ-ի միացյալ զինված ուժերի գլխավոր հրամանատար ամերիկացի գեներալ Ֆիլիպ Բրիդլավը:
Նրա խոսքով՝ դաշինքի բոլոր երկրները «բարձրացնում են իրենց զորքերի մարտունակությունը, որպեսզի, եթե պահանջվի, պատրաստ լինեն» Ռուսաստանի հետ «հակամարտությանը»: Բրիդլավը ճշտել Է, որ նման գործողություններ, մասնավորապես, ձեռնարկվում են եվրոպական դաշնակիցների անվտանգության ամրապնդման՝ ամերիկյան նախաձեռնության շրջանակներում, որը նախատեսում Է Եվրոպայում ԱՄՆ-ի զորքերի ներկայության պահպանում շրջափոխման հիման վրա, զինավարժանքների ակտիվացում եւ այնտեղ լրացուցիչ քանակությամբ սպառազինությունների եւ ռազմական տեխնիկայի տեղաբաշխո ւմ:
Այս նպատակներով Բարաք Օբամայի վարչակազմը 2017 ֆինանսական տարվա համար Կոնգրեսից պահանջել Է 3,4 միլիարդ դոլար՝ մոտավորապես քառակի ավելի, քան ընթացիկ շրջանում, հաղորդել Է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
