Նյու Յորքում գործարկվել Է մետրոյի՝ աշխարհում ամենաթանկ կայարանը: 12 տարվա շինարարական աշխատանքներից հետո տրանսպորտային հանգույցը մարտի 3-ին սկսել Է աշխատանքն Առեւտրի համաշխարհային կենտրոնի (WTC) երկվորյակ աշտարակների գետնախարսխի մոտ, որոնք կառուցվել են 2001 թվականի սեպտեմբերի 11-ի ահաբեկչական գործողությունների հետեւանքով քանդված երկնաքերների տեղում:
Ավելի քան տասը տարվա ընթացքում ԱՄՆ-ի պատմության մեջ խոշորագույն ահաբեկչական գործողության վայրում վեր են խոյացել հուշահամալիրը եւ WTC-ի երկու նոր երկնաքերները («Ազատության աշտարակը» - 541 մետր): Այս վայրում խոշոր տրանսպորտային հանգույցը որոշվել Է ծածկել պողպատե «կողերով», որոնք, միահյուսվելով, թռչունի թեւեր են հիշեցնում
Նախագիծը, որն սկզբնապես գնահատվում Էր 2 միլիարդ դոլար, ի վերջո նստել Է գրեթե 4 միլիարդ դոլար, հայտնել Է NY1 հեռուստաալիքը: Ինչպես ընդգծում են ամերիկյան զանգվածային լրատվամիջոցները, այս կայարանը դարձել Է աշխարհում ամենաթանկը:
Տրանսպորտային հանգույցը միացնում Է մետրոյի 11 գծեր եւ Նյու Ջերսիի նահանգ տանող երկաթուղային ճյուղը: Տրանսպորտային հանգույցը եւ դրա տակ գտնվող խանութներն ու սրճարանները լիովին կսկսեն գործել առաջիկա ամիսների ընթացքում: Սպասվում Է, որ կայարանից օրական կօգտվի ավելի քան 200 հազար մարդ, հաղորդել Է ՌԻԱ Նովոստին:
