Կանայք ապահովում են աշխարհում պարենի ավելի քան կեսի արտադրությունը, մինչդեռ նրանք կազմում են սովյալների ընդհանուր թվի շուրջ 70 տոկոսը, քանի որ դառնում են բարիքների անարդարացի բաշխման զոհեր: Այս մասին հայտնել Է ՄԱԿ-ի՝ սնվելու իրավունքի հարցով հատուկ զեկուցող Հիմալա Էլվերը:
«Կանայք կազմում են աշխարհում սովյալների 70 տոկոսը եւ անհամամասնորեն են տառապում թերասնումից, չնայած այն բանին, որ նրանք են ապահովում գլոբալ մասշտաբով ամբողջ պարենի ավելի քան կեսի արտադրությունը»,- ասել Է Էլվերը՝ ՄԱԿ-ի՝ Մարդու իրավունքների խորհրդում ներկայացնելով իր նոր զեկույցը:
Դա առանձնապես ակնհայտ Է Աֆրիկայում՝ Սահարայից հարավ ընկած երկրներում, որտեղ կանայք արտադրում են հիմնական սննդամթերքների մինչեւ 80 տոկոսը, ինչպես նաեւ Ասիայում, որտեղ նրանք կազմում են այն աշխատուժի 50-ից մինչեւ 90 տոկոսը, որն զբաղված Է տարածաշրջանում սննդաբաժնի հիմքը կազմող բրնձի բուծմամբ:
Զեկույցի շնորհանդեսը կազմակերպվել Էր մարտի 8-ին նշվող Կանանց միջազգային օրվա առնչությամբ: Այդ առթիվ Նյու Յորքում՝ համաշխարհային կազմակերպության կենտրոնակայանում եւ Ժնեւի բաժանմունքում տեղի են ունեցել մի շարք միջոցառումներ:
Այսպես, ՄԱԿ-ի Մանկական հիմնադրամը (ՅՈՒՆԻՍԵՖ) եւ ՄԱԿ-ի՝ Ազգաբնակչության բնագավառում գործունեության հիմնադրամը (ՅՈՒՆՖՊԱ) հայտարարել են նոր նախաձեռնության մասին, որը նպատակամղված Է մինչեւ 2030 թվականը բոլոր մանկական ամուսնությունների պրակտիկայի վերացմանը, հաղորդել Է ՏԱՍՍ գործակալությունը:
