Սիրիայի կառավարությունն ահաբեկչության դեմ պայքարելու է մինչեւ զինված այն խմբավորումներից երկրի ամբողջ տարածքի լիակատար ազատագրումը, որոնց աջակցում են Քատարը, Սաուդյան Արաբիան, Թուրքիան եւ այլ երկրներ: Այդ մասին,հայտարարել է ՄԱԿ-ին առընթ եր Սիրիայի մշտական ներկայացուցիչ Բաշար Ջաֆարին Անվտանգության խորհրդին եւ համաշխարհային կազմակերպության գլխավոր քարտուղար Պան Գի Մունին հղած նամակում: Ընդսմին դիվանագետը մերժել է «Սիրիայի եւ Ռուսաստանի կողմից գործադրվող հակաահաբեկչական ջանքերի ցանկացած քննադատություն»:
Բաշար Ջաֆարին, որը Դամասկոսի պատվիրակությունը գլխավորում է Ժնեւում ընդդիմության հետ բանակցություններում, ընդգծել է, որ «սիրիական ճգնաժամի կարգավորումը պետք է իրականացվի միջսիրիական քաղաքական երկխոսության հիման վրա՝ իրենց իսկ՝ սիրիացիների առաջատար դերակատարությամբ եւ առանց որեւէ նախապայմանի»: Սիրիայի մշտական ներկայացուցչի խոսքով՝ «քաղաքական կարգավորումն անխզելիորեն կապված է հակաահաբեկչական գործունեության հետ, որը կշարունակվի մինչեւ ծայրահեղական բոլոր կազմավորումների վերացումը», հաղորդել է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
