Հզոր ձայնով այս երգչուհուն հեռուստադիտողը հայտնաբերեց երաժշտական մրցույթներից մեկի ժամանակ: Վստահ կարելի է ասել, որ Սոնան իր ողջ տաղանդով հանդերձ միանգամից գրավեց հեռուստդիտողներին, քանի որ հենց նրանց քվեարկության շնորհիվ էլ երգչուհին ճանաչվեց «Հայ սուպերսթար» նախագծի հաղթող: Սոնա Ռուբենյանն ապացուցեց, որ ժողովրդի ուշադրությունը գրավելու համար պարտադիր չէ կիսամերկ վիճակում բեմ բարձրանալ եւ ունենալ էպոտաժային դիմահարդարում. Նա դա կարողացավ անել իր համեստ կեցվածքի եւ բացառիկ ձայնի շնորհիվ:
Կար ժամանակ, երբ Սոնային տեսնում էինք երկար եւ գեղեցիկ վարսերով, սակայն «Նոր ալիք» մրցույթի ընթացքում երգչուհին հրաժարվեց իր երկար վարսերից` դրանք բավականաչափ կարճացնելով: Այսօր Սոնան ունի կարճ սանրվածք, որը պետք է խոստովանել` ոչ պակաս է սազում երգչուհուն:
Առօրյայում Սոնային, գրեթե, չեք տեսնի առատ դիմահարդարմամբ եւ եթերային զգեստներով: Նա նախընտրում է լինել սպորտային ոճում եւ բնական տեսքով: Իսկ նրա բեմական զգեստներն աչքի են ընկնում մաքսիմալ նրբությամբ եւ համեստությամբ:
