Ավստրալացի պատգամավորը խորհրդարանում ոգեկոչել է սումգայիթյան ողբերգության 28-րդ տարելիցը

Ավստրալիայի խորհրդարանում Բենլոնգ համայնքը ներկայացնող պատգամավոր Ջոն Ալեքսանդրը մարտի 16-ին, ելույթ ունենալով երկրի դաշնային օրենսդիր մարմնում, ոգեկոչել է 1988թ. փետրվարի Սումգայիթի ջարդերի զոհերի հիշատակը: Ինչպես տեղեկացրին Հայ դատի Ավստրալիայի հանձնախմբից, պատգամավորը նշել է, որ այս տարածաշրջանում հայերի նկատմամբ բռնության պատմությունն ավելի խորը արմատներ ունի` ձգվելով 1915-1923թթ. Օսմանյան կայսրությունում Հայոց ցեղասպանությունից մինչև Սումգայիթի հակահայկական ջարդեր:

Ջոն Ալեքսանդրը շեշտել է, որ Սումգայիթում, Ադրբեջանի այլ բնակավայրերում և Լեռնային Ղարաբաղում հայ բնակչության ցույցերը բացառապես խաղաղ են եղել և նպատակ են ունեցել վերամիավորել Լեռնային Ղարաբաղը Հայաստանի հետ, սակայն ադրբեջանական բռնությունները դարձել են այդ ցույցերի հանդեպ «կոլեկտիվ պատժի գործողություն»: Ավստրալացի պատգամավորը նշել է, որ հայերի նկատմամբ բռնությունները Սումգայիթում համակարգային բնույթ են կրել և ուղեկցվել սպանություններով, բռնաբարություններով, գույքի վնասմամբ և այլ բռնի գործողություններով:

«Սումգայիթում տեղի ունեցած հանցագործությունները համապատասխան արձագանքի չարժանացան Խորհրդային Ադրբեջանի իշխանությունների կողմից»,- նշել է Ջոն Ալեքսանդրը` հավելելով, որ նման գործողություններից է գալիս մարդու իրավունքների այն բարդ իրավիճակը, որ այսօր կա Ադրբեջանում: Ըստ ավստրալացի պատգամավորի` հենց այս անպատժելիությունն է, որ հնարավոր է դարձրել Ռամիլ Սաֆարովի հերոսացումը:
