Ֆրանսիայի նախկին նախագահ Նիկոլա Սարկոզին iTele հեռուստաալիքին տված հարցազրույցում հայտարարել է, որ Եվրամիությանը Թուրքիայի անդամակցության հեռանկարը հակասում է առողջ բանականությանը:
«Թուրքիան գտնվում է Փոքր Ասիայում: Այն մեծ երկիր է, մեծ քաղաքակրթություն, բայց այն կամուրջ է Ասիայի և Եվրոպայի միջև: Թուրքիան Եվրամիությունում տեղ չունի, և ես միշտ հակված եմ եղել այդ դիրքորոշմանը: Այն հիմնված է առողջ բանականության վրա: Դա ամենևին էլ չի նշանակում, թե ես թուրքերի դեմ ինչ-որ բան ունեմ, նրանք մեզ պետք են, նրանք մեր դաշնակիցներն են ՆԱՏՕ-ի շրջանակներում»,- ասել է Սարկոզին:
Սարկոզին նշել է, որ երբ «մենք սկսենք բացատրել, որ Թուրքիան Եվրոպա է, աշակերտներին պետք է պարզաբանենք, որ Եվրոպայի սահմանն անցնում է Սիրիայով: Դա զուրկ է առողջ բանականությունից»,- ասել է Ֆրանսիայի նախկին նախագահը:
Սարկոզիի խոսքով՝ եթե հաստատվի, որ Թուրքիան եվրոպական երկիր է, ապա «մենք Եվրամիության մահն ենք ցանկանում»:
«Իսկ եթե խոսքը Թուրքիայի միացման մասին է, ապա թույլ տվեք ասել, որ Ռուսաստանը շատ ավելի եվրոպական երկիր է, քան Թուրքիան»,- նշել է նա:
