Ավստրալացի պատգամավորը կոչ է անում հիշել սումգայիթյան ողբերգությունը անցյալը չկրկնելու համար

Ավստրալիայի Նոր Հարավային Ուելսի նահանգային խորհրդարանում Հայաստանի հետ բարեկամության խմբի ղեկավար Ջոնաթան Օ’Դիան խորհրդարանական իր հայտարարության մեջ անդրադարձ է կատարել սումգայիթյան ողբերգությանը:
Ինչպես տեղեկացրին Ավստրալիայի Հայ դատի հանձնախմբից, շեշտելով, որ մոտ մեկ ամսից հիշատակվելու է Հայոց ցեղասպանության 101-րդ տաՐելիցը, ավստրալացի պատգամավորն ընդգծել է, որ բազմաթիվ հայեր նույն կերպ հիշատակում և սգում են 1988-1990-ական թվականներին Բաքվում և Սումգայիթում Ադրբեջանի կազմակերպած հակահայկական ջարդերի զոհերին:
«1988թ-ի փետրվարից Ադրբեջանի ողջ տարածքում հակահայկական ցույցերը վերածվգեցին էթնիկական հիմքի վրա բռնությունների, սպանությունների և ոչնչացման մի ալիքի: Ադրբեջանի հայ համայնքը ոչնչացավ, հազարավոր մարդիկ տեղահանվեցին, իսկ այս ամենի գագաթնակետը դարձավ Լեռնային Ղարաբաղում կամ Արցախում պատերազմը»,- ասել է Ջոնաթան Օ’Դիան:
Նա նաև շեշտել է, որ հպարտությամբ աջակցում է Ավստրալիայի հայ համայնքի բոլոր նախաձեռնությունների՝ՙ ուղղված այդ ողբերգական իրադարձությունների հիշատակմանը: «Իհարկե, կարևոր է առաջ մղել հանդուրժողականության, արդարության և ժողովրդավարական ազատության արժեքները, սակայն միաժամանակ անհրաժեշտ է հիշել և ճանաչել անցյալը, ինչը կօգնի որպեսզի պատմության այդ մութ էջերը չկրկնվեն»,- ամփոփել է ավստրալացի խորհրդարանականը:
